Hallo! I searching everywhere but I can´t find it... where is it, or how can I put it to my wiki?? Thanks... Apollyon 07:38, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Rich text editor is automatically enabled on every wikis except few ones. I think you have disabled it so go to your preference>Editing>Check Enable Rich Text Editor and save, then you are good to go. Hope it helped.  Finchelfanno1 (talk / contribs)|08:33,5/4/2011
Check it if you want... www.sk.godofwar.wikia.com. But I don´t see it there... ;) Apollyon 10:40, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, there is none. Enjoy that ;-) The RTE can be disabled wiki wide after a request from the admins (usually after a community discussion about it). Perhaps former admins have disabled it or Wikia somehow forgot about it. If you really want it enabled, you can always use Special:Contact, but I'd consider the lack of the RTE as a blessing... Getting used to the RTE will only make things harder for you later - it's best to leave it off. The RTE will make formatting difficult, and will limit your ability to create moderately complex pages. For example, the RTE can't parse a link inside a picture caption.  Monchoman45  Talk  Contribs  Skystone  11:24,5/4/2011
Yes, it is maybe true! But for other users are maybe more confortabe usede a RTE than normal... ;) And if is the other one better than RTE why wikia.com used RTE?? :)
+ I can always dissabled RTE, if I want...

In my opinion you'll do the users a favor if you don't enable it. From what I remember from the period I actually used the RTE, was that my edits turned out to look completely different than intended and that I would break an article every now and then. My guess on why Wikia makes users use the RTE, and a lot of other useless features for that matter, is that they try to have a competitive advantage over the other wiki-farms. Yes... ok... I understand! ;)

Yes, it can be enabled on request on just about any older wiki. It is not enabled by default in some languages, because it was not translated enough to be useful. Please do use the linked contact form, and make sure to mention what wiki it is that you need it enabled, we are not psychic. Additionally, a note to the people who replied in very strong negative tones about it breaking things, I would suggest you try it out again. We've made many improvements to it, based on reported bugs (you know if you dont report that it mangled a page, it wont ever stop doing that...) and problems. We understand its not for everyone, or will be able to solve all editing solutions, but it does make basic editing very much easier for people just getting started. --Uberfuzzy 07:26, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I guess it was unfair to assume that the RTE is still as bugged as it used be, without actually using it. That's why I tried editing a few pages with it. First I went here and tried editing the template content. When hovering over the template (puzzle symbol) a preview of the template appeared, but the colors were scrambled giving a 'buggy' impression. The situation was slightly better after clicking 'edit'; the parameters could be defined. The problem was that the preview area, again, was lacking some styling elements and scripts used in the template.
After that, I went here, removed the __NOWYSIWYG__ magic word, and tried again to edit templates. This time the preview areas were all scrambled and there was some styling code visible, both when hovering over the template and when editing. The 'edit' link, when hovering over the template was invisible. I figured that it would be better if I just didn't touch anything, afraid of breaking something.
Lastly, I decided to do something less demanding, so I went to look for typos. Found one here and fixed it, but the editor made an additional "'''" in a section below, which I didn't touch.. That was still better then the various empty lines that the editor tends to add or remove randomly every now and then.
I know the the staff has the best intentions to make editing easier for us, and thank you for that, but if such a feature is showing buggy, then I think it's actually discouraging new editors from editing and not making it easier for them, as I imagine was the intention for the RTE. Until such bugs get fixed I wouldn't make new users use it by default. Sovq 09:09, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
I don't thing the RTE necessarily discourages new users from editing, but it does introduce edit errors without the knowledge of the editor. It also hides important things from new editors that makes it easy for them to mess up content without realizing it. In the very least, the RTE should support a special tag that actually shows comment info (<!-- comment -->) which is the only way to warn editors about what things to be careful with.
In general, the RTE just creates headaches for admins and Wikia appears to think attracting users while potentially alienating admins is a fair tradeoff. Sad actually. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9 May 2011 1:30 PM Pacific
