Hi, I'd like the users to see an information template (table with fields for description, author, source, licence, etc.) by default when uploading images. How can I configure this? Thanks for your help. --Weas-El Talk|Contribs 13:48, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

To be more precise: The content of "MediaWiki:Uploadtext" is displayed above the edit box. But that's not what I mean. I'm talking about default text in the edit box. --Weas-El Talk|Contribs 14:02, February 7, 2011 (UTC)
You want to use preload. I don't quite understand how it works, but to give an example, when you create a new forum thread here, the header and comment line are preloaded. I think you can do it for any text if you define it somewhere, but I don't know much about it and have never been able to make it work right.  Monchoman45  Talk  Contribs  Skystone  15:05,2/7/2011
Try Special:AllMessages. The defualt wiki messages that show in the upload form are burried there somewhere. Can be edited, although adding more functionalities to it can be tricky. Sovq 15:11, February 7, 2011 (UTC)
I just found out, that you can add preload content by adding "&action=edit&preload=..." to an URL. So now I can create links, but the hard part will be to manipulate the "upload image" button. --Weas-El Talk|Contribs 15:20, February 7, 2011 (UTC)
Eureka! :) The german wikipedia uses javascript to do this, see Onlyifuploading.js. --Weas-El Talk|Contribs 15:30, February 7, 2011 (UTC)
Tagging {{FAQ}}. Seems like very useful info. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 7 Feb 2011 5:55 PM Pacific
Unfortunately it seems the code above has to be adapted to Wikia's new skin. --Weas-El Talk|Contribs 09:39, February 8, 2011 (UTC)
Well, the info besides MediaWiki:Onlyifuploading.js is still useful. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 8 Feb 2011 5:35 PM Pacific
