Hi folks, I may be just imagining things, but I thought when I started Pharyngula Wiki, the message at MediaWiki:Community-corner was visible on the front page, at least on the wikia skin. Now it doesn't seem to show up anywhere. Is there a <tag> or something that makes it show up? The only place I can see it now is at Special:WikiActivity. Or maybe I was confused and that's the only place it ever shows up. Also, Forum:Page Header/Banners implies that editing the Community Corner will trigger a notice to every user, or maybe every user using the wikia skin. Is that right? The community corner only appears on the Wiki activity page. As you said, when you change it, recent users will receive a message saying Community Messages have been updated--GodPray  00:14,2/21/2011
It has no specific tag, but since it's a page, you can Transclude it: {{MediaWiki:Community-corner}} - Tjcool007 (Talk / Contribs) 10:13, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

The tag you may have been looking for is <verbatim>. I don't know much about it, but it has to do with pages in the MediaWiki namespace, and special transclusions. There's an FAQ'd forum post regarding it, about using HTML.  Monchoman45  Talk  Contribs  Skystone  22:43,2/23/2011
I've found that editing MediaWiki:Communitymessages-notice-msg to change the message in the little box that pops up in the lower left corner when you change MediaWiki:Community-corner is also helpful for giving wiki users messages. I almost use MediaWiki:Community-corner changes just to trigger the real message in MediaWiki:Communitymessages-notice-msg. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 23 Feb 2011 7:24 PM Pacific
