How can I get a template (above template for example, deletion, cleanup, etc) that can automatically add a category just like a stub template? AJona1992 22:35, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

Add the category to the template (be sure to put it between <includeonly> tags if you don't want the template categorized too). --Pcj (TC) 22:41, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
How can I create a template then? AJona1992 22:55, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
See Help:Creating templates (make sure you have the rich text editor turned off). --Pcj (TC) 22:57, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
How do I turn it off? AJona1992 23:05, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
In Special:Preferences, on the Editing tab, uncheck "Enable Rich Text Editing" and click "Save". --Pcj (TC) 23:13, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
Ok did that, but here is the problem... I read the link you gave me, which tells me to add this in box|bgcolor=yellow|textcolor=blue|caption=A yellow house so I did (at the template page) but then comes a red link for a template:box, was there something else I needed to do? AJona1992 23:27, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
No, you have to create the template before where it goes into talking about parameters...the box thing is just an example. Creating a template is pretty much like creating any other wiki page except you include it on lots of pages (and do it in the Template namespace). For example once the template is made at Template:Box, then you can call it with {{Box}}. Hope that helps. --Pcj (TC) 23:34, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
Usually if you add (make sure Rich Text Editor is turned off) the following:
<includeonly>[[Category:category_name|{{PAGENAME}}]]</includeonly>
to your template code, it will add any page that uses the template to the category given. The help page is overkill, if you already have a template made. --- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 4:39 PM PST 6 Jun 2010

Ok look at this page that I did, by following the directions (http://rodriguezfamilymembers.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Box) what do I do next? AJona1992 23:53, June 6, 2010 (UTC)
Now you can call it on another page like:
{{Box
|Anyone=
|input=
}}

And fill in the parameters. --Pcj (TC) 23:59, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

What? I'm sorry I don't get it? I tried adding that but I won't show AJona1992 00:12, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
Is that really how you want the template to look (a big red box)? Don't forget to change "Anyone" in <includeonly>[[Category:Anyone]]</includeonly> to the category name you want. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:03 PM PST 6 Jun 2010
