I have a flagged Bot account on my Wiki, I've got the latest AutoWikiBrowser with Win 7 (so I don't need a separate .NET Framework download), I've set up my find/replace rules, and everything seems to be cool...

Except when I click "start" all that happens is AWB quickly runs through my page list and flashes "processing page" and until it gets to the end (it correctly removes pages from the list which don't apply to my find/replace rules). It doesn't make any changes. The Edit Box tab has the wysiwyg buttons along the top, but is otherwise a blank grey square. No diff page. Nothing.

It just runs through the list and "processes" and then stops. I've reinstalled and get the same problem.

What's going on? Am I missing something? How do I get this working? --Ian talk 02:33, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

Are you logged into your account on your wiki.--GodPray  03:46,9/6/2011
I'm logged into my own account, not my bot account. AWB is logged in via the bot account. --Ian talk 04:48, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

Can you post the rules you set? leviathan_89 20:58, 6 September, 2011 (UTC)

Sure. I started with just the one rule to keep potential errors to a minimum. Under the Options tab > Find & Replace > Normal settings:
Find: oWOD | Replace with: cWOD | Case sensitive: (yes) | Regex: (no) | Multiline: (no) | Singleline: (no) | Minor: (yes) | Afterfixes: (no) | Enabled: (yes)
Any ideas? --Ian talk 21:09, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

The options "ignore..." should be disabled, (if you don't want them enabled). leviathan_89 21:33, 6 September, 2011 (UTC)

Yep, I had the first one checked intentionally. I unchecked to see if it made a difference, but it still does the same thing. --Ian talk 22:32, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

Then go to the "skip tab" and see if there is an option which can interfere with your task. You can try uncheck all of them. Also check the other "skip options" in the other tabs, like "skip if only minor replacement made" in the first tab (since you mark your rule as minor, if this is activated the bot will skip all the edits). It's probably this one the source of your problem. leviathan_89 23:35, 6 September, 2011 (UTC)

Only ones I have checked off are "skip if no replacement" (i.e. no changes made) and "skip if doesn't exist." Unchecking the former doesn't change the behaviour, not does changing the second to "don't care." --Ian talk 23:41, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

No try to look in the "find and replace form", under the three buttons for the rules there is "skip if only minor replacement made": uncheck it. Alternately uncheck "minor" in your rule. If it doesn't work try to look other skip options in the skip tab. leviathan_89 23:50, 6 September, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I got it. As I mentioned, the only one selected there was "skip if no replacement," and the only one selected on the Skip tab was "skip if doesn't exist." There's nothing preventing any changes for Minor edits. --Ian talk 00:18, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

My bad, I got your reply wrong. The I don't know what to say, you can check if there is a log problem, but if you retrieve the list I doubt it. Last question: can you explain what your rule (oWOD → cWOD) is meant to do? I mean I don't get what you want to change. leviathan_89 00:35, 7 September, 2011 (UTC)

White Wolf, an RPG company, had a "World of Darkness" setting, which ended in 2004, at which point they started up a new one with the same name. Similar in concept to the standard and Ultimate Marvel universes, if the comic analogy works for you.
The fans dubbed them the "Old World of Darkness" (oWOD) and "new World of Darkness" (WOD or nWOD) to distinguish the two. There was never any official terminolgy, so the White Wolf Wiki used that on all its page titles and links where disambiguation was necessary.
White Wolf has recently announced that they're going to be producing new material for the original World of Darkness, and to distinguish them they're calling it the "Classic World of Darkness" (cWOD).
So I need to go through seven years' worth of page titles and links and change hundreds of instances of oWOD to cWOD. --Ian talk 00:44, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

I just tried to do a the same with my bot, using your rule, (on the catagory WWWiki stubs) and it has founded numerous cases, so I really can't figure out what can cause your problem... leviathan_89 00:54, 7 September, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks anyhow. I'll give it a shot later on my other computer. Maybe that'll work better. --Ian talk 00:57, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
I've also had no issues with AWB not finding replacements. However, you do realize this is only going to change the links and not move pages to comply with the link changes? You will more than likely have to download Pywikipedia Bot to also do the appropriate page moves (unless this has already been done). Also, AWB will also pick up categories that linked to (oWOD) as well. The old category pages would need to be deleted and the new ones created to comply with the category restructure too.
