Ok, so I downloaded AWB version 5.3.1.0 for Windows XP and up. I currently use windows vista. I already extracted the files to a folder on my desktop, and when I click the application, it pops up, but it never loads. What's the problem? Do I need to do something else? Thanks for your help. It opens, but doesn't let you use it? Or is it white, what? A better description of what happens or a screenshot may be helpful. On a side note, in order to use it, you must be an admin or have AWB rights on the wiki in particular. — Hofmic (talk) 04:38, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
Hofmic, no, any user can use AWB on any wiki regardless of their rights. There are no limitations in the software. It is the individual wiki that places restrictions on who can use a bot.--GodPray  04:45,10/12/2011
I'm trying to upload a video, but it's taking FOREVER, so I'll try to get a screenshot. Universal 13:23, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
You need microsoft's .net framework to run AWB - is that installed? -- RandomTime 13:35, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
How do I find that out? Universal 13:51, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
Nevermind that, I have it installed. I checked the microsoft software on my computer, and it's there. Universal 00:53, October 13, 2011 (UTC)
I'm bumping this because it still doesn't work. Universal 23:50, November 10, 2011 (UTC)
If you have an AntiVirus program running, it may be blocking some features of the program or messing up the installation process. As seen on the AWB bug report page, some people had problems with Norton AntiVirus deleting or invalidating files during installation.
If you can't find an answer here, you may have more luck asking your question on the AWB IRC channel: #AutoWikiBrowser. --Gardimuer { ʈalk } 14:02, November 12, 2011 (UTC)

That makes a lot more sense. I do have Norton. I guess I'll have to do something about that. Universal 15:24, November 12, 2011 (UTC)
