This is something that has been confusing me for some time now. With the latest browsers, Jquery, Ajax, etc., do we still need to install Java (i.e., JRE) from Oracle (http://www.java.com)? If the latest browsers are capable of running JS without it, why would I want the added overhead of JRE? Or, will installing it help fix JS loading issues some of us IE8 users have from time to time? Thanks! — SpikeToronto 15:28, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
- I recommend not using IE and switching to a browser like Firefox or Chrome. Thanks! --User? 15:30, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Java and Javascript are two different languages - they're only related by the fact that they're both C family. Installing Java won't affect JS. Monchoman45 Talk Contribs Skystone 15:31,8/18/2011
- I switched from Firefox to Chrome and never have any issues. --User? 15:38, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
- The only problem Chrome has on Wikia is that the comment highlighting will occasionally glitch and highlight the wrong person. So far I've only seen that on mac, so if you're on windows it'll be fine. Monchoman45 Talk Contribs Skystone 15:46,8/18/2011
- I reported that problem already. --TheBen10Mazter (Talk -Blog -Contribs) 16:53, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
The Chrome highlight problem does occasionally pop up on Windows, but it's not serious. The 888th Avatar (talk) 02:33, August 19, 2011 (UTC)
