Hello,
I wanted to ask how to an image to a wiki from a particular URL, instead of the computer. I know it works in the Club Penguin Wiki, and i wanted to apply thi in the Commando 2 wiki, to make it easyer to upload files in some cases.
Thank you for your attention,

I strongly recommend you don't rely on adding images by URL for these reasons:
  • The image is on a third-party server, which is not getting advertising revenue from the hosting, this is called "hotlinking" and is often considered rude as you are using that site's bandwidth for something that doesn't get back to them.
  • It's much harder for a user when editing to see where the images are if they are listed by URL instead of Wikicode, which is much more readable
  • It's much harder to update an image when it's added in this way, especially if it's used in more than one place
  • Licensing is ambiguous.
  • The file could be deleted without warning, leaving the wiki without the file in question for the future.
It's much better to upload the file to the wiki, and add it in the normal way. However, having read my warnings, there's a whitelisted group of websites (I can't remember the list, but it's the standard image hosts like imageshack, etc) - that you can hotlink from Wikia by simply pasting the URL. Someone may well reply with the list. -- RandomTime 15:56, March 26, 2012 (UTC)
