Does anyone know how to add a destination to Special:Outbound? Hax 217 (Talk | Editcount) 22:10, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Can you give more information to what you mean, or are trying to do? --Uberfuzzy@fandom 22:23, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
When I use "link=:" and put an external link, it treats it like it's something within a wiki. It wasn't this way before. I believe that Special:Outbound is the solution, but it always says there is no destination. Hax 217 (Talk | Editcount) 23:05, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
What is "link=:"? I've never seen that used anywhere. Can you give a more complete example? -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:00 PM PST 5 Jul 2010
I think it should be ?target=site, not sure though. Mark (talk) 10:17, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
Just checked it: Special:Outbound?u=http://example.org. So use ?u?. You may also use &f= to mark from where the user came. Mark (talk) 10:49, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
What is the purpose of Special:Outbound? Is this so you can give Wikia a chance to put an interstitial advertisement in on the way to the external site? -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:48 AM PST 6 Jul 2010
Or the Wiki's Community a warning that you are leaving the site for parts unknown (the link might no longer point to the content it was approved as)... or both --Roguebfl(talk) 19:07, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Just to be clear, YOU are not supposed to be using it at all really. Its auto injected into pages for external links for anon users. Pages rendered for logged in users dont get this done. --Uberfuzzy@fandom 23:10, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks anyways Hax 217 (Talk | Editcount) 00:13, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
What Uberfuzzy is trying to say is that you should just make external links using the regular mechanism ([url label]). -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:59 PM PST 6 Jul 2010
That doesn't work with "link=:". (ie. link=:link here) Hax 217 (Talk | Editcount) 01:15, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
Wait, yes it does:

Not on the Call of Duty Wiki.Hax 217 (Talk | Editcount) 21:49, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Never mindHax 217 (Talk | Editcount) 21:51, July 8, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah. Its disabled on some wikis. Its part of our advertising system, so its not really something you want to be using directly. --Uberfuzzy@fandom 11:00, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

How does one find out if is turned off on their wiki? These kind of inconsistencies cause headaches, if you can't easily tell whether functionality exists or not. -- Fandyllic (talk · contr) 2:24 PM PST 9 Jul 2010
