I just received three emails from Wikia, with the same text.

Remember, your community will be looking to you to make sure the wiki is running smoothly. If you need help taking care of the wiki, you can also allow other community members to become administrators by going to http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Special:UserRights. I have no idea what wikis this is referring to; the link the user rights at community central makes no sense whatsoever; my last edit to the obscure wiki I am bureaucrat on was a month ago, but 3 emails? Why? And what does
AutomaticWikiAdoption mean? --◄mendel► 14:53, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
- pcj got that email too, despite not being an admin anywhere on wikia after Sannse having a temper tantrum and demoting all wowwiki admins. Apparently uberfuzzy says its another bug. Resa1983 16:21, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds like they're trying to "revive" our communities. They want our site-traffic, even after most of us leave. 22.214.171.124 16:39, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about this everyone. We are part way though creating a system to semi-automate wiki adoptions, to save people having to go the adoptions page when they want to restart small inactive wikis. Unfortunately, an adjustment to flag wikis with inactive admins triggered a set of emails when it shouldn't have. The criteria for sending weren't finalized, and (as you saw from the link to community) neither was the email text. In Pcj's case, he is still admin (but inactive) on four wikis, which is why the mail was triggered for him. Sorry again -- Sannse (help forum | blog) 17:37, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Got 5 of these, strange criteria at the moment. "your community will be looking to you to make sure the wiki is running smoothly" seems to imply that there is a community - in which case I'd probably still be editing the wiki. I'd be interested in seeing a tool that shows all the wikis that I have rights at, as there are a couple I never check any more as interest has wained, I'm fairly sure about 3 or 4 of the wikis (I only founded 2, one was a test of the answers format, and there was another community one that soon died due to the podcast it was about stopping - so it's definably adminship rather than 'crat), but I'm not sure what the 5th might be. -- RandomTime 18:34, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
