I made a template for interwiki linking on the Wiccana Server RP Wiki, but when using it I get an error message (ex: "[Template fetch failed for; sorry]"). The code for the template is simple--{{:w:c:aoc:{{{s}}}|{{{s}}}}}. Why am I getting this error? --TarrVetus 11:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Doing a template to similate interwikis is one of the most dificult thing to do. Mine contain this :
[http://{{{wiki}}}{{localurl:{{{page}}}}} {{#if:{{{texte|}}}|{{{texte}}}|{{{page}}}}}]
But, you can't use that to render template of others wikis. — TulipVorlax 18:17, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
The thing that boggles me is that the template is on the wiki it's trying to fetch it from, and I get a failure notice. I could use the template you provided, tulip, but then it would just make the links into hyperlinks, instead of clean interwiki links. --TarrVetus 16:42, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
You mean with the little image that say it's an external link ? Easy getting rid of it. Just wrap the thing between span tag with plainlinks class:
<span class="plainlinks">[http://{{{wiki}}}{{localurl:{{{page}}}}} {{#if:{{{texte|}}}|{{{texte}}}|{{{page}}}}}]</span>

No, he does not mean that, he means that that is an external link, which hasn't got anything to do with what he wants to do. He wants to embed content from another wiki, not link to it.--Friedebarth (Talk) 04:08, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
A few months years late, dont you think ?
Only templates from the Central wiki can be included in pages of others wikis on Wikia.
And the "Template fetch failed" error message is often something that goes away if you purge the page cache adding "?action=purge" to the URL. — TulipVorlax 06:03, January 2, 2010 (UTC)
