The Fandom Discord is a Discord server for editors on both Fandom Wikis and all other Fandom brands in the Fandom company. It is a place to chat about various things, from discussion about Fandom wikis, Giant Bomb, GameSpot, GameFAQs, and ComicVine to chatting about beloved games, movies, TV, anime and more. You can ask and help with technical problems, post quotes, pictures and trivia, and talk to Fandom Staff!

Joining

  1. Register your account on Discord. It is recommended to download the Discord client for the device you are on.
  2. Use the invite link, https://discord.gg/fandom, to join the server, and then follow the instructions given.
  3. Next, the only visible channel that you can use will be #verification. You should add your Discord username and tag to your profile masthead (see this guide for Fandom, and then follow the instructions given by the bot). This way, the rest of the channels will become visible to you.

Selecting your preferred languages

To access the channels of your preferred languages, go to the #roles channel and under "Available language roles" click on your preferred language. You will then receive the role associated to this language (eg. "French" role) and channels in the category of your preferred language should then be accessible to you in the channel list of the server.

To remove a language, go to the #roles channel and click once again on the language role you want to remove. The role will be removed from your account and the category associated to this language will be hidden to you.

You can add one or several languages at any time.

Guidelines

  1. Be respectful. Avoid heated arguments, name-calling, or any form of intentional negativity. Refrain from excessive pinging, especially directed towards staff. If you encounter issues with another member, reach out to a moderator for assistance.
  2. Keep it PG-13. Mind your language and refrain from sharing explicit or sexual content. Occasional use of mild profanity is generally acceptable, but excessive swearing is discouraged. Our server welcomes members of all ages and backgrounds, aiming to maintain a comfortable environment in all public chat channels.
  3. Avoid political discussions that are not directly relevant to wiki topics. This includes discussions about politics, politicians, and related topics that do not have a clear connection to the wiki's subject matter.
  4. Use common sense. While these rules provide guidance, not every situation may be explicitly covered. When in doubt, seek clarification from a moderator in #server-feedback or #server-reports.
  5. Utilize the appropriate channels for discussions. #general is designated for wiki-related chat, #random for off-topic conversations. It's important to note that these named channels are examples, and you should read the channel descriptions before engaging in conversation to ensure alignment with the intended topic and purpose of each channel. Specific wiki verticals (e.g., gaming, anime, movies, TV) have their own channels for focused discussions.
  6. Maintain a recognizable nickname or username. Your nickname or username should be recognizable as your Fandom username while allowing for reasonable adjustments. If one is set, the other can be anything you prefer. This ensures clarity and transparency in communication. Use the /nick command from @Aiki for any necessary modifications, ensuring your Fandom username remains evident.
  7. Discussions about tickets. If a discussion requires actions or insights beyond the capabilities of this server's members, it should be redirected to Staff via a ticket. While advice-seeking is permitted, any matters where assistance cannot be provided by the server's members should be directed accordingly. The members of this server cannot address on-platform issues such as wiki closure, ban, admin abuse, and so on. To contact Fandom Staff members, please submit a ticket. For any instances of vandalism or spam, please report them in #spam-vandal-report.

This server adheres to the rules of Fandom as a platform. Consequences for actions on Fandom will be applicable here and vice versa. This includes Community Central Guidelines and Fandom Terms of Use.

This is not an exhaustive list of all rules. Please be aware that Moderators and Fandom Staff can and will act on their discretion in order to keep this community safe for all. Something "not being in the rules" doesn't stop it from being acted upon. Use common sense.
