Hi,

Last week, i've use AutoWikiBrowser a lot on fr.guildwars.wikia.com with my admin account but since it ask me to validate every minors edits, i've created another account for it nammed Vorlax1. Sparkla just gave it bot flag. But i still cant use it. It say "Vorlax1 is not enable to use this." and then send me there : [1]. So i've set up this checkpage; still nothing.

I've ask for a little help on the english wikipedia, and one user there said Vorlax1 should be on the centralize checkpage. So i'm here to ask if we can try this because i really need to use this software. There's a list of bot resquest in fr.guildwars that just keep growing and growing.

AWB usage on all Wikia is confirmed only on the Central AWB CheckPage to prevent possible abuse of the software. I've added Vorlax1 to the list, so the bot should now be able to access AWB. :) GHe (Talk) 23:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok, i found out that it work a lot better if i downgrade to the previous version i was using last week anyway. But, it just keep asking me to upgrade and it will get annoying soon. But now i might be able to get some work done. — TůζipVõrζąx Talk 02:59, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

I just got a respond in Wikipedia. The guy said that we need to install a file named api.php for the last version of the software. I've read the update notes but i was thinking since Wikia is so up to date... Ok, i've got some infos about the future of AutoWikiBrowser on Wikia. To begin with version 4.1, it won't be usable on Wikia anymore because it want the api.php file to be located at the same path it is elsewhere. That is in http://....wikia.com/w/api.php and ours is in http://....wikia.com/api.php. So, the last version of the software functionning here is version 4.000, a version in wich Google search is broken (it was fixed in 4.1). The developper (i think) of the software said "[...] You could change it, There is probably no easy way for us to do this in code, without having to have an if for wikia... Unless you can get the wikia admins to do a symlink or some other referencing of api.php in /w/...? ". I've reply that i cant ask staff to do a thing like that. But, in truth, i dont know if i can. So i'll just leave this up to you guys and continue using previous version until it become unsuable and at that time, i'll cease using bot and ask for the deletion of the bot account. Phlox

AWB used to work fine on genealogy but I guess someone fixed the whitelist because now I lock up on login. I thought it was skipping me because I am sysop there. It may well be unrelated- the lockup happens before a login screen even appears so it doesn't even know who I am yet. Anyway, I will be confining my fiddling to genealogy.wikia for the forseeable future, but I may help folks get started on automating some things on other wikia like psych if they get serious with the semantic stuff. -~ Phlox 18:46, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't think MWB works any more... at least, I've had problems with it. It took a while of fiddling to get AWB to work, but it does now. I'm reluctant to remove the MWB page though, in case anyone is using it. I think we should only add to the AWB one now, unless specifically asked for the other -- sannse (talk) 07:24, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Well i think its more than save to clean those pages. At Sourceforge.net(that btw you are still Project Admin) one can notice the last update of the program by User:Ligulem was done over 2 years ago that was prior i think to us having MW.11 long time when i started to experiment with AWB i was already having issues with MWB. And with all the MW changes and Wikia exchanges im doubtful MWB will work with us. So blanking and redirecting here would be a good thing --Cizagna ^{(Talk) Dofus} » 23:15, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

AWB....what is it?

What exactly is AWB? I'm thinking of requesting access, but I'd like to know what exactly it is, and if I'd be able to use it for my Sysopping duties at the Castle Crashers Wikia. Is it like a separate EXE browser for Wikia?
