Rewriting history[]
Okay, I accept that Wikicities is now Wikia, although I have yet to read an explanation of why the name was changed. It's a little creepy to read all the statements about Wikia (e.g., date of founding) that are clearly referring to the Wikicities incarnation. - There is no official pronunciation. Neither of those are wrong, but there are also other ways of saying it which are equally correct. Angela (talk) 13:52, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Is Wikia a for-profit organization?[]
Do I understand correctly that Wiki – in contrast to WikiPedia – is a regular and for-profit organization and not a foundation? This would be a pity... Does this then mean that users will be confronted with ads, sponsored links etc. soon? --Chasimir 20:01, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

I'm busy promoting Wikia on Squidoo and want to be impressive while remaining accurate. "About" currently says "We currently support over 6000 communities in more than 70 languages".
