Community Central:Adoption requests

 This page is where you can request administrator and/or bureaucrat rights on communities without an active admin and/or bureaucrat team. Before you post your request, please make sure you are active on the wiki and that you meet the guidelines listed below.

Following a successful adoption, you will receive administrator rights for 30 days. After this period, please reapply for permanent administrator and bureaucrat user rights with the "extend permissions" forum. A Wiki Representative will review your request, which will be determined based on activity and rights usage.

Please allow up to one week (7 business days) for a response to your adoption request. Requests are generally — but not always — reviewed in the order they were received.

We look forward to having you adopt one of our communities!

Guidelines

You can adopt a wiki if...

The admins/bureaucrats have been inactive (not editing or engaging with the wiki) for at least 60 days. You haven't gained rights or created another wiki in the past 60 days. You are not blocked in another Fandom wiki. You are contributing to the wiki regularly, and your interest in it is both current and active. This includes: Editing content pages on the wiki each day for at least a consecutive week prior to the time that your application is submitted. (Editing images, categories, or Discussion posts may not count, as we need to see that you have some command of the subject of the wiki.) You have created at least one new page in the main namespace (the more the better). Your edits are in good faith, and using the correct language for the wiki (i.e.: English for English wikis). You make an effort to talk to other users, such as leaving friendly and encouraging messages on user talk pages and responding to questions on article talk pages, forums, or blogs. You keep the wiki looking well-tended and up to date -- updating news sections, add new pictures and videos related to the topic, etc. The wiki is not considered as a duplicate (a wiki about the exact same topic already covered by another, usually larger and more active wiki).

You cannot adopt a wiki if...

There are admins actively editing the wiki. You became an admin or created a new wiki in the past 60 days. You are blocked in another Fandom wiki. You haven't been contributing to the wiki's content pages for at least a consecutive week. The community is considered as a duplicate of a larger and more active wiki. The wiki is not eligible for adoption for another reason. This includes, but is not limited to: Fandom-branded wikis (such as Community Central, SOAP Wiki, etc.) Personal or sandbox wikis. Wikis with a topic that is exceedingly obscure, and page view statistics suggest a very small audience. As explained in our Community Creation Policy, we may even fully close such wikis.

Other cases and notes

Before you submit a request If the wiki has a Wiki Representative, you should contact them regarding elevated rights instead of proceeding with an adoption request. (Wiki Reps are listed in the wiki's Special:Community page.) You may apply to adopt a wiki bearing the Official Wiki logo, but adoption of these wikis is done at Fandom's sole discretion and may not follow the rules set forth here. You are allowed to submit only one adoption request per 24 hour period. Please keep this in mind. Active communities If there are no admins, but other users are very active, you would need to reach out to the users (if it's one or two) or to the whole community with a public discussion to ask if they agree with your adoption. You should provide a link to this discussion in your request. The discussion needs to be in the wiki (a discussion or blog post, not Discord or another site). Polls are not accepted as a way of voting. Users must have at least one week to respond. Requests typically are successful if the response is positive, or if no one answers. If you're already an admin and want to request the bureaucrat role, all you need is approval from the other active admins. Existing admin/bureaucrat rights may only be directly removed if the users have been inactive for more than one year. Blocks If you are blocked in another wiki, you could try to appeal and have the block lifted to be able to request an adoption. However, if you think the block is completely unfair (such as in cases of abuse of admin rights), you could mention this in your request. We also recommend checking how blocks should be appealed for advice. Applying for permanent rights After applying for temporary adoption, users may apply for permanent administrator and bureaucrat rights here. For the next 30 days, please make sure you are consistently active and appropriately using your new user rights. Failure to do so will result in your request for permanent rights to be declined. The 60 day limit for adoptions only applies to your initial temporary adoption. The clock will not reset when you receive permanent rights.

Admins on the 2nd wiki have been inactive and an anonymous user has been adding pages irrelevant to the wiki. In addition, the 1st wiki is having a page supported by an admin. It looks like the Happy Tree Friends Wiki is eligble for adoption. However there are a lot of active contributors there. Please start a discussion (a blog post or other public post) about choosing new admins. We will be happy to promote whoever the community picks. Hi I saw that the Wikia on hookahs has been inactive for a long period of time (at least two years) and I would like to adopt the control of it as I want to fill it out as much as I can with the help of my community of Hookah smokers. Inactive Wiki (on hold)

I am a member of a community for an older computer game, Ares (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/ares), which was revived a couple years ago by being released as open source software. There are now 2 different projects working to bring the Ares universe back to life, Xsera (www.xsera.org) and Antares (www.arescentral.org/antares). Since the game is complex (the original author intended to release other games around the same universe, so the game is rich with tidbits and factoids), I thought it deserved a wiki of its own.

However, ares.wikia.com is currently in use, with almost no content and no activity for almost half a year. In fact, all of the pages were created on one day, and all the pages I saw were just a blank template, except for the home page.

As administrator of ares.wikia.com, I would bring activity to a wiki that is currently unused, and help rekindle a community that has been around for over a decade.

Hi. In order to adopt a wiki you need to be working on it already. You can do a lot to fill in the existing stub pages, add new content, add pictures, spruce up the mainpage, etc. as a regular user. Hello this is liosrakia .I'm looking to get bureaucrat status for Eden Eternal Wiki. Simple explanation why: I'd like to expand our admin base, and because the founder doesn't edit the wiki at all: an inactive founder basically. I've contacted request section about this before (and got admin status instead, which was good enough at the time), and I have patiently waited my 60 days- so I hope it goes smoothly this time and I can get bureaucrat status! The current and only administrator there is Sound of Sky, who hasn't edited since 2009. Well, I would like to request bureaucrat powers, because there is not admin/bureaucrat team in this wiki, adn there are a good amount of things that could be improved. As far as I have seen I am the 2nd member with the most edits, and the 1st member is inactive. My edits are of good quality and I know how to use the source system (actually I disabled rich-text editor). GOGH Wiki (approved)

This was declined before.

We were discussing about making him and this guy and me admins. This is the previous request. Since Small Owl isnt very active anymore, Id like to make another user, Nicejosh, who has been active lately and have been contributing to the Wiki a sysop. Gunius has now requested NOT become one. Apparently, Brandon needed a blog post telling all the other contributers about the request by a deadline or else it would be declined. We did all that, but it was still ddeclined for a reason, so Im making another one.

I believe the problem last time was that the request was constantly changing. You two need to put up a blog post or other page for all of the active users on the wiki about wanting to become admins; the one you link discusses different users. When the community has decided on new admins, let us know, and give us a link to the discussion. Make sure you state clearly which users to promote, and that those are the users chosen in the discussion. The discussion should be open for at least a week to allow everyone time to comment, and you may wish to message other users to make sure they have seen it. Hello,

I would like to become an administrator for the Twisted Metal Wiki. I have done plenty of work, added a couple of pages and have been overall hard at work to make it more functional and better looking. I do not believe there is and active administrator or team of administrators at the moment.

There are a few active people on the Twisted Metal Wiki that haven't made too many changes, but I am not alone at this time. Also, they have complemented me on a couple of occasions about the quality of work I am contributing.

Power Rangers Fanon Wiki Request (Wait a minute!)

Okay, so the Wiki hasn't been active by the admin since 2009. Well, it's been awhile now and I think I should take charge because I want to redesign it a bit and start out fresh. I also want to delete a few of my pages and start over. There's also the issue of someone possibly trolling it and, since there is no admin, no one can take charge. The problem with the third thing you mention, though, is that the admin hardly contributes himself but usually just orders us about in terms of adding things (which you can see on our talk pages). Wizard 101 Wiki Needs More Admins (declined)

Only one admin is at the Wizard 101 wiki and is causing many problems. She has banned many users for minor wrongdoings for a period of 2 years, which is excessive for minor errors. I, Hunter Lionblood, Would like to become an admin to help the wiki stop falling apart and make it far more than acceptable. Hellgate Global Wikia (declined)

I can wait the required 60 days but I don't see any harm in asking now. The Hellgate Global Wikia was created by a brand-new user and the creator has only made 8 edits to the site (8 across all Wikias) and has not logged in again since creation.

I have created a wikia in the last 60 days, but that was a different version of the same Wikia where I could make it look more professional (see: Hellgate Eternity). As you can see, the Eternity Wikia is starting to look professional and I have tried to keep the Global Wikia up to date with my Eternity Wikia as well. I have been both friendly and encouraging to new members on the Eternity Wikia as well as on other Wikias and have opted out of a news section until the rest of the Wikia is up to par.

Again, I can wait the remaining 48 days but the request is here in the mean time. I'd be really happy if you could simply swap the names of the wikia sites (I want that "Creator" badge!), but I doubt you can do that so I can move all of the pages over.Кэне_零三 12:39, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. That wiki was only created in early June which means it can't be adopted through this page until about August 6th. You do not, however, need to adopt it in order to merge it with your other wiki at that time. You can request to have the two wikis merged through Special:Contact. Make sure any content you didn't add has been transferred to Eternity wiki by export/import. Hello. I am Pvgreenzebra, creator of Ediomahvan Wiki (created 66 days ago), and I joined the Algebra Wiki because one of my great interests is in Algebra. However, the only other user was the creator, who has not edited since April 10th of this year. I would like to obtain administrator and bureaucrat rights for this wiki because I would like to almost remodel the wiki, and I would like to be able to have those abilities. I have crated a page, and edited a lot on the wiki, and plan to continue to do so. Although there is only one user who I believe has forgotten about the wiki, I have left two different messages on his talk page , and have made one blog post, which I think should qualify since there is no one else besides him or her, who is also inactive, anyway.

Arthur Wiki Request (on hold)

I would like to adopt the Arthur Wiki. There has been much spam and vandilism added to the wiki but we the few active users can't fix it because none of us have administrator rights to the wiki, which is why I would like to adopt it. It needs more attention to things such as the templates. If admistrator rights given, I would give admin rights to Jacksonian, another active user of the wiki. We had to wait a while because the only other admin logged on just to make a minor edit. If at least one of us could get to be an admin, that would be great.

Ikariam Wiki adoption (PT)

Hi there, I would like do adopt the Portuguese (PT, not the Portuguese Brazilian, as it seems to be active) Ikariam Wiki, since the administrator didn't made any changes, and there's no information about the last login. Also, he/she doesn't have a valid email to contact.

The wiki presentation it's a bit "default, and there are some spam pages that nobody can delete. I contributed with some pages, and another user that joined some days ago also created two or three pages.

My plans to this wiki are basically take it to the next level: do some redesign, complete the buildings Category, and make it a reference for the portuguese community who plays Ikariam.

@TheBen10Mazter: They don't have to. Staff will give out both rights anyways, unless the user requested to choose one of the rights, or Staff chose to give out only one of them. It's not like Wikia Staff don't know which rights to give to the user.
