Merging the Bodybuilding and Starting Strength Wikis[]

I noticed that The Bodybuilding and Weight Lifting Wiki is up for adoption, and seeing as how so much of its' contents overlaps with mine, it makes sense to merge them. Especially if it is already abandoned. Maybe not though... they are two distinctive subjects; mine pertains to a specific book and training program, discussion of the lifts on my wiki is geared toward technique, and the audience is mostly beginners, and theirs is more about the sport itself and the science and application behind it (mine only deals with these themes peripherally). But, like I said, there is a lot of overlap... and it seems like a shame for all that good info accumulated on that wiki to go unused and unseen. Or perhaps there is some way to "affiliate" the two wikis. Tim Donahey 01:23, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

I'd say merging is good, but if you prefer to "affiliate", then you could just add that to the main pages of both wikis. You would also be welcome to become an admin on the bodybuilding wiki. But if you prefer to merge, then go for it :) All you need to do is use Special:Export on bodybuilding to collect the articles, then use Special:Import on startingstrength to import them. Then let me know it's done, and I'll redirect the URL. Let me know what you want :) -- sannse (talk) 12:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
I've imported the content from Bodybuilding Wiki, but it's not necessary to redirect the URL. I guess rather than redirecting their site to mine, I'd prefer you just take their site down altogether or even rename it (explanation follows). Starting Strength isn't a Bodybuilding website per se, essentially because most bodybuilders are not concerned with "strength," but with "size." It's like speed skating (performance) vs. figure skating (aesthetics). Although those two attributes do correlate, they are not causally related. You can be very strong and have relatively little muscle or you can be very muscular and relatively weak. Furthermore strength training is a means to an end, that end being improvement in a sport, including bodybuilding, athleticism, overall wellness and fitness, whereas bodybuilding is an end unto itself and will not necessarily make you more athletic, fit or "well." Bodybuilding is a sport where oiled up men with virtually zero bodyfat and orange colored tans wear bikinis and flex muscles for each other on a stage. Ironically though, very little of the content on Bodybuilding Wiki is actually about "bodybuilding," it is information that applies universally to any sort of weight training, including (my wiki) strength training, bodybuilding, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and strongman. It's actually called "The Bodybuilding and Weight Lifting Guide Wiki," but since only 1 of it's 12 articles is actually about the sport of "bodybuilding," it would more accurately be named just "Weight Training Wiki." With that in mind, if someone wanted to take the reigns of a new "Bodybuilding Wiki" and start over on it, like for instance plastering pics of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronnie Coleman all over it, and throwing up some articles about getting "hyooge bicepts" and the best tan, then I think they should be able to. But if someone looking for that sort of content came to my wiki, or even the current Bodybuilding Wiki, instead, they wouldn't find it there. Sorry for the rant, lol. What I'm proposing is, change (not redirect) the URL of bodybuilding.wikia.com to weighttraining.wikia.com, rename it "Weight Training Wiki," make me a sysop, and I will affiliate with it. And make the domain bodybuilding.wikia.com become available again. Thanks Sannse! Tim Donahey 17:08, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Upon closer examination I realize that everything that I have exported from "The Bodybuilding and Weight Lifting Guide Wiki," was in turn already exported from wikipedia. Considering they have no original material of their own, I see no reason to maintain the wiki in any incarnation. Delete it. Tim Donahey (email) (talk) 20:21, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
In that case, I think it better just to leave it in the hope that someone will come along to adopt. Hopefully someone with that specific interest will see the wiki and want to improve and build it. There's no problem with it waiting until then -- sannse (talk) 08:41, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Fine by me! Thanks Sannse. Tim Donahey (email) (talk) 16:24, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Italian Juvepedia[]

Sorry for my English:) I am the founder of the Polish version Juvepedia. There is also Italian. On the Italian version has no editing, no one is not it occupies. I would like to deal with it, so please powers bureaucrat and an administrator. Gudyś 10:56, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Looks good, I've set the rights. Good luck with the blog and don't forget there are people around to help if you get stuck. Good luck with the project -- sannse (talk) 12:07, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Adrian Mole Wiki[]

http://adrianmole.wikia.com/wiki/Adrian_Mole_wiki

I've added a lot to wikia (especially the fire emblem wiki) and I have all 6 books in the Adrian Mole series, so i'm sure I can really help the wiki.

--Semajdraehs-Talk page 11:24, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Just saw this bit:

  1. You've contributed to the wiki's content
  2. You have the support of other active members of the community
  3. The current admins have not contributed to the wiki for more than 60 days
  4. You have a welcome template, and you've welcomed all of the new contributors on Recent changes
  5. You have not founded, adopted or been given admin access on another wiki in the last 60 days
  1. Yes
  2. there are none
  3. about 20, but he/she only edited for 4.5 hours (between 8pm and 12.30am)
  4. None to welcome, but I will design it anyway
  5. about 46 days actually...

--Semajdraehs-Talk page 11:32, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Semajdraehs. You've done some nice work on the Adrian Mole wiki in the last few days, and it's great to see you making welcome templates and taking care of things. We would like to see that you had contributed for more than 3 days however, and that it had been at least 60 days since you started as an admin on another wiki. More importantly, since the existing admin has been there within 20 days, I recommend you approach him/her first and ask about this with a message on his/her talkpage. Existing admins should be given the opportunity to make this sort of change first. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a message. -- Wendy (talk) 18:48, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Nintendo DS Wiki[]

Hello, I'd like to adopt the inactive Nintendo DS Wiki. There's only about 26 articles there, all stubs. Yowuza TALK 2 ME! 13:38, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I see a few other users there, so they should have a say in the adoption. Please set up a page to discuss this with them, and let me know if you need a sitenotice to catch peoples' attention. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 11:40, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
There is, see w:c:nintendods:Forum:Adoption. --Yowuza TALK 2 ME! 17:26, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
I've added to that, and put up a sitenotice... let's see how that works :) -- sannse (talk) 08:39, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

I would also like to adopt it too.KevinAvatar

Here is my respoce to the guidelines:

  1. Yes, I am the top ranked user there.
  2. Yes.
  3. The founder has not edited since October.
  4. I've welcomed all the new users but I am only using the default welcome template.
  5. No, I've adopted one and been made an admin on another.

--Yowuza TALK 2 ME! 12:24, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

All looks good Yowuza, I've set the flags, good luck! -- sannse (talk) 10:31, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Meditation Wiki[]

Hello Wikia Staff! I would like to adopt the Meditation Wiki. There are only 9 articles, 7 of which I made and I am the only active user. I would like to spice up the CSS and other things only an admin can do. Thanks a bunch! WikiWarrior47 16:17, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

All looks good :) I've set the rights. Let us know if you need anything, and good luck! :) -- sannse (talk) 13:18, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Xenosaga Wiki[]

I'd like if possible adopt the Xenosaga Wiki It is not in the adoption list, but the admin of this wiki didn't edit since a very long time, I am not sure but it may be more than a year, and there's very few edit done.. I started to edit even though I am not fluent in english and do my best for making it easier to navigate, but I cannot add the logo and change some things necessary for the wiki, I also hope that in making the wiki more appealing to eyes with the logo, etc, easier to navigate in, there's possibility it be more active with time.

Thanks you in advance! KOS-MOS Lover (Talk) 20:51, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

the current admin for this wiki was on-site on Sunday... it sounds like he has limited time for the wiki, so may welcome some help. Please talk to him, and hopefully he will agree to add you as an admin -- sannse (talk) 11:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Ah, sorry, I didn't see him, by non active I meant I never saw him editing, but thanks, I will ask him in his talk on the Xenosaga Wiki then. KOS-MOS Lover (Talk) 12:56, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Ace Attorney Wiki[]

I'd like to adopt the Ace Attorney Wiki. There aren't any active admins there (the last edit by an admin was on May 24), and there aren't that many active editors in general, either. There are some pages that need to be merged or deleted. I've made three templates and improved another. I've also expanded some of the character articles and cleaned up many articles for accuracy and stylistic coherence.

I'm planning to try to start some dialogues with other users to get some policies hammered out (such as when to change the FA). I also plan to get more users in there. -capefeather 17:52, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Capefeather, you're doing a great job so far! There are a few other users who are contributing to that wiki though, and I'd really like to see them involved in the decision to promote you to sysop. Do you think you could post a message about adopting the wiki on the Community Portal or on the forum to seek the input of others? I can post a site notice directing people there so they'll see it. --KyleH (talk) 19:10, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Done. It's on the Community Portal talk page. -capefeather 20:05, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I put a notice up on the main page, but maybe it should be somewhere else and worded differently? I'm kind of at a loss here :( -capefeather 19:34, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
I've added a link to the community portal to the site notice. Let's give it a day or two and see if anyone chimes in. --KyleH (talk) 18:24, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
It looks like no one else had anything to say, so I went ahead and made you a bureaucrat. Keep up the good work! --KyleH (talk) 23:59, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Kotor Wiki[]

I'd like to adopt the Kotor Wiki. There aren't any active admins there, and there is a problem with a lot of protected pages, and various big copy's from either wikipedia/wookieepedia. Ive made some templates and a lot of pages. I plan to fix it up and make it look nice and add lots of members.

Thanks a bunch! User:Darth Revan)

Hi Darth Revan! It's great that you're excited about editing about Knights of the Old Republic. That community, however, decided to merge all of the content from that wiki in to the Star Wars Games wiki. It looks like some technical switches didn't get flipped to make that happen on our end. Check out the KotOR category on SWGames wiki; I'm sure that there are a bunch of articles there that could use some love. :) --KyleH (talk) 18:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Jak and Daxter wiki[]

Hello Wikia Staff, i would like to adopt the Jak & Daxter Wiki, the founder Shanegamer13, is no longer active there, and there are no Administrators, and no Bureaucrats, so could i adopt the Jak and Daxter Wiki, thanks. KrazyKat 23:08, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I see a few other users there, so they should have a say in the adoption. Please set up a page to discuss this with them, and let me know if you need a sitenotice to catch peoples' attention. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 09:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Fallen Earth Wiki[]

Hi. I would like to adopt the Fallen Earth wiki. I've already made siginificant contributions and intend to make more. The wiki has also just lost it's only sysop/bureaucrat (as far as I can tell). Thanks. --AllenJB 18:15, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

AllenJB, everything looks like it's in order. Thanks for your help handling the vandalism earlier today. --KyleH (talk) 18:51, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Computer RPG Wiki[]

Ive asked to become admin of this wiki since July, nothing.. So I'm replying here to try and become admin Ive made a lot of edits and many new pages, I want to get rid of Vandalism and random pages people made. the wiki is Computer RPG Wiki. Please and thanks MapleShurb

The current admin edited recently (on the 13th) so it would be better to discuss this with her. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 11:17, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Guestbook Wiki[]

I'd like to adopt the Guestbook Wiki. There aren't any active admins there, and it has a problem with anons adding random numbers and letters to user namespace pages. I think that, if I was made an admin there, I could bring a lot more users to it, and revitalize it, and maybe liven up the CSS :).--Eu(Talk!Contribs) 20:30, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Although I see there aren't many regular users there (if any) there are some transient users, and it would be good to get them involved in this. So I suggest setting up a page for discussion of new admins, and if you need me to I can set up a sitenotice pointing to it. Good luck -- sannse (talk) 11:33, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Trailer Park Boys Wiki[]

Hi, i would like to adopt the Trailer Park Boys Wiki, since i started editing just over a week ago i have created over 77 pages on the wiki, before i started there was only 7, and i intend to create a lot more pages in the coming weeks.

  1. yes, ive created over 77 pages.
  2. there an none.
  3. there is only one other person on the wiki.
  4. not yet but i should soon.
  5. no,this is the only wiki ive tryed to adopt or create

Nasmith

Hi Nasmith. I don't think that creating place holder pages is really a good idea. It can be frustrating for readers to see links to "articles" that then turn out to have no content. I understand your intent, but it's not really contributing and it's not really going to help the wiki. Perhaps you should spend some more time writing real content :) Good luck -- sannse (talk) 09:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Phineas and Ferb Wiki[]

I would like to repetition for the adoption of the Phineas and Wiki. The founder has not been active since June 18 and has not responded to talk on his talk page, nor email. I've been doing most of the housekeeping tasks like making sure pages are categorized, new contributors are being welcomed, etc. However, there are pages that need to be deleted and also I would like to help the wiki by implementing the new create page templates since we've got so many episode pages that still need to be created and it would be nice if they were all structured the same. I also plan on starting to adopt policies such as naming conventions and a manual of style so that we develop a cohesive project, not just a group of article. I see this as a way to grow the wiki into the future.

I had sent a request through email and JSharp requested that I show him a page where we were discussing my plans for adoption. Well, we hadn't actually voted on it per se, so I set up Forum:Wiki Adoption for such purposes. There are only two other members that are regularly active, and I have received their approval for adoption. —Topher 19:20, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Topher -- I think you've done a great job so far with phineas and ferb, and thanks for consulting the community. We'll make you admin there. -- Wendy (talk) 22:29, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Garth Nix Community[]

I see that no one has made a Edit for Thirty Days, and I was wondering if i could become a Beuracrat, sysop on that wiki. Avlok

Hi Avlok. Before you adopt any wiki, you should follow the guidelines at the top of this page. The very first one is that you should contribute content to the wiki in question, which you have not yet done for Garth Nix Wiki, where you haven't yet made any edits. There is a lot you can do without admin powers in terms of setting things up, creating articles and making the wiki better! -- Wendy (talk) 19:19, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Rayman Wiki[]

With a very small community and a small amount of pages this site could use a sysop as the creator and only sysop has only made one edit it is hard to delete some spam pages the wiki has gathered... {{SUBST::User:Crystal lucario/Sig}}

Hi. I see a few other users there, so they should have a say in this. Please set up a page to discuss this with them, and let me know if you need a sitenotice to catch peoples' attention. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 09:44, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Beanie Babies Wiki[]

I would like to adopt this wiki.I am currently a part of redwall wiki and the admin ofwatership down wiki.thanks. Rakkety Tam Talk! 12:17, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't look as though you have contributed there at all yet. There's a lot you can do without being an admin, and adding a few articles would be a great start to getting the wiki going. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 09:47, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

RPG Arena[]

If possible, can I adopt RPG Arena? I have been a been a member there ever since it started, but I have not started to edit a lot until recently, when I checked to see how it was going. I noticed that the admins have not been on in at least six or more months. I believe that this wiki could benefit from an active admin. What the Logan 13:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Logan! I see that a few other people have contributed to the wiki recently. They should probably have a say in who is elected to become a sysop. Could you set up a discussion page on the community portal so that the rest of the community can discuss it? Once you do that, let me know and I'll link to it in the site notice. --KyleH (talk) 17:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I set up a forum page for the new RPG arena admin. I also put a link to it from the main page. What the Logan 22:42, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Great! I added a link to that page to the wiki's site notice. Let's give people a few days to comment then we'll move on from there. --KyleH (talk) 22:50, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Just came to fill you in that I have received support from one of the three users that have been on the last 30 days. I have doubts that the other members will comment on the subject but I am willing to wait it out for a couple more days. What the Logan 23:56, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Looks good to me. I've made you a bureaucrat. Keep up the good work! --KyleH (talk) 00:15, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Biographies[]

I would like to adopt the Biographies wiki.

The last edit to the Main Page before mine was Apr 2007. The Community Portal page does not exist. The Current Events page does not exist. The Help page does not exist. The "About This Wiki" page does not exist. The "Active User List" shows only one user with a user page and their last edit was Apr 2007Wjhonson 01:34, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

There is no doubt this is an abandoned wiki, but you have made only a few contributions to it yourself. There is a lot you can do to improve the wiki without being an admin, in terms of contributing good content and setting up categories and creating some of those missing pages! -- Wendy (talk) 03:45, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Spyropedia[]

I want to adopt the Spyropedia (Link: http://spyro.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page). Juanito316 03:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Juanito! It looks like you're off to a great start on Spyropedia! It's true that none of the admins have made any contributions to the wiki lately; however, you've only made a few edits yourself. Try contributing a bit more yourself, then, in a month or so, propose your adoption request again on the community portal to give other contributors a chance to get involved. --KyleH (talk) 00:25, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Shark Wiki[]

No active members, only 5 articles, etc. Jntg4

This is undoubtedly an abandoned wiki. However you haven't made any edits there. There's a lot you can do to improve it without being a sysop. Please get back to us after you've added some content per the guidelines on this page. -- Wendy (talk) 18:51, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Folk Song Index[]

I would Like to adopt the Folk Song Index, ([1]) the wiki hasn't been active since 2006, and there was only an opening page before I came to it. I have recently made contributions to it, there used to be only one page on the wiki there are now 7 articles, and several more should be added by the end of the day. I am the only person using the wiki at this moment, but I plan to promote in the future to other folk music enthusiasts that may be interested. Frank Cloutier

You've done a nice job so far. We'll be happy to have you adopt this wiki. -- Wendy (talk) 19:09, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Adopt the CAW Wikia[]

Hey. I would like to adopt the CAW Wikia. I am there all the time, and I wanna make sure that it becomes a great Wikia again. Thanks XtremeTony 20:31, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi XtremeTony -- you are already doing a nice job with this wiki. I see 4 or 5 other logged-in users (and several anons) who are contributing to that wiki though, and I'd really like to see them involved in the decision to promote you to sysop. Do you think you could post a message about adopting the wiki on the Community Portal or on the forum to seek the input of others? Also, per the guidelines on this page, I'd like to see you welcome the other users. -- Wendy (talk) 18:44, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Ms. Wendy, I would like to inform you that XtremeTony is a horrible choice for having any power over a wikia, he is extremely egotistic and will edit out anything that he doesn't like because it hurts his feelings.
