David Handelman is an American screenwriter. He was a Staff Writer for the NBC drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. He also worked with Studio 60 creator Aaron Sorkin on his other series The Newsroom, The West Wing, and Sports Night.

Sorkin also hired him as a writer for his earlier series Sports Night and The West Wing. He worked freelance on Sports Night across the first two season from 1999 to 2000. He wrote for two episodes "The Sword of Orion" and "The Sweet Smell of Air". He was a staff writer for the fourth season of The West Wing from 2002 to 2003. He wrote for two episodes "Election Night" and "Evidence of Things Not Seen".

He joined the crew of Studio 60 for when the series was picked up for a full season in 2006. He co-wrote the story for the episode with fellow Staff Writer Cinque Henderson. Studio 60 creator Aaron Sorkin wrote the teleplay for the episode. He co-wrote the story for the episode with Story Editor Dana Calvo. Sorkin again wrote the teleplay for the episode. Handelman left the series mid-season after .

Since Studio 60 he has written episodes of Love Monkey and One Tree Hill. He served as a Story Editor for the sixth season of One Tree Hill in the 2008 to 2009 television season. He wrote a novel entitled "Slick Revenge" in 2010. He reunited with Sorkin as a Story Editor for his next series The Newsroom in 2012.
