History

Eugene "Flash" Thompson is a classmate of Peter Parker. Flash grew up in Forest Hills, Queens, New York. He lived only a few blocks from Peter's house. He lived with his father Harrison Thompson, a police officer in the New York City Police Department, his mother Rosie Thompson and his little sister Jessica. When Spider-Man first appeared, Flash became a big fan and constantly supported the superhero. Eugene "Flash" Thompson goes to Midtown High School with Peter Parker where he bullied him daily.[1] The bullying continued for a long time even after Peter gained his spider powers who never used them against Flash, even when tempted to do so. Flash was always trying to outsmart him but usually fails. Flash was dating Liz Allan until they broke up, seemingly due to Liz developing a crush on Peter.[2]

Later, he had dress as a cheerleader for Halloween due to a bet he lost to Peter, but convinced the rest of the football team into also dressing as cheerleaders.[3]

Flash and Mary Jane Watson had also been voted the king and queen of the Fall Formal,[4] which led him to try asking out Mary Jane, but she said no.[2] After seeing Peter in his Spider-Man costume, which Peter claimed was his Halloween costume to protect his identity, Flash argued that Parker looked nothing like Spider-Man.[3] After Peter personality changed due to the symbiote suit, it was Flash that snapped Peter back into reality by reminding him that his friends only wanted to help.[5] Flash later with friends helped save Gwen Stacy from falling to her death due to Venom at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.[6]

It was later revealed by Flash's mom that he and Peter were best friends in Nursery School. Peter also gave Flash his trademark nickname because of his tendency to streak as a little boy. He later tried to ask out Sha Shan Nguyen, who turned down flat and wanted nothing to do with him. Sha Shan eventually went out with him after he reported Harry Osborn's use of the Goblin serum on the team, feeling that it was better that he earned trophies fair and square.[7]
