History

Earth-7840 is a reality where animals, insects in particular, have anthropomorphic qualities and somehow live side-by-side in a world of humans. This world would be home to one Webster Weaver, a young scholarly spider who lived with his Aunt Mayfly and Uncle Bug. While he did well in school, he was disliked by the popular students such as Trash and Liz. He worked for the newspaper the Daily Beagle owned by publisher J Jonah Jackass and had a relationship of sorts with secretary Miss Grunt.

One fateful day, Webster would become interested in a human scientific experiment involving radiation and go to check out the exhibition. There the scientist showing off the device would become bombarded with radiation. Put into a radioactive frenzy, the scientist would spot and bite Webster. Webster would flee the scene and realize he was now endowed with the proportionate strength of a human being. He would develop a costume and become the Man-Spider, cashing in on his powers by becoming a television personality. One night he would fail to assist a police office from stopping a crook, telling the office that it was none of his business. The officer would tell the Man-Spider that the crook he let get away had murdered a man named Bug Weaver. Realizing the errors of his way, the Man-Spider would turn to using his powers to fight crime.

Over his illustrious career he would battle foes such as Marvin the Hunter, Culture Vulture, Rude Rhino, The Green Gobbler, King-Pig, "Octo" Doctorpus the Cat O' Nine Tails, Leapin' Lizard, Bog Dog, The Incredible Hog, The Stinger, Fish-terio, Weevil McEvil, The Shlocker, Porkius the Living Ham-Pire, Electro-Eel, and Mister Potato-Haid.

In recent times, Man-Spider would go into action to stop a man who was threatening to destroy the worlds atmosphere if his $1,000,000,000.00 ransom was not paid in 24 hours. Man-Spider would learn that this man was the very crook who murdered his Uncle Bug, and would be revealed to be the Bug-Spray Baron, a living can of bug spray. Man-Spider would attempt to subdue the villain and prevent him from destroying the ozone layer in an insane attempt to kill all bugs. Although initially captured, the Man-Spider would break free as the Bug-Spray Baron would attempt to blow up the Man-Spider with a bomb. Although Man-Spider would escape alive and well, the Baron would seemingly be killed in the blast. With his uncles death avenged, the Man-Spider would continue his heroic career.
