On the desktop version, I can't find the search bar or preview an edit before you post it.

^Same, on Android+Chrome
And should be noted that mobile skin is not available for all pages, basically just for article pages. I was planning on reporting it, along with a lot more issues.
As to your other question about previewing your edits: switch your view to the mobile version of the page and use the new mobile editor. It's quite nice (or at least source editing is; I don't do visual). When you finish editing and click the "Next" button, you'll have a chance to "Review Your Changes".

I liked the older version where if you were posting images, you could see if you messed up the image, or of you tried to link an article in a page, you could see it red, so you knoe it either doesn't exist or was misspelled. Here, you can only see what you added unless I am missing something.
I was thinking that there is a preview, and it seems that there isn't, but maybe the visual mode serves for this too.
There definitely is a preview in desktop mode. But perhaps it has a disappearance issue like the global navigation? AJGrahamCC, thanks for clarifying that it is only on UCP wikis. I checked using a non-UCP wikis and didn't realize that header acted different on the different platforms.

We were talking about the special mobile source editor this time. It seems that there is no preview.
@Frieza1500 Oh, I'm sorry, you're right. That's just a diff not a preview. I don't do much editing involving image layout, I mostly do copy editing. So I have no other suggestions. Sorry. :-(
So, some of this is a potential UCP bug?
