Of course, just go to your MediaWiki:Wikia.js and uninstall them there :)
Since SocialIcons has been removed (see w:c:dev:SocialIcons/code.js), I'd assume they're talking about the social buttons which are now installed by default. Unfortunately, the terms of use don't allow you to remove them for your users, but you can remove them for yourself.
You would do so by going to either Special:MyPage/global.css (if you want to remove them on all wikis), or w:c:skip-beat:User:Queennicolee/common.css (if you just want to remove them on that Wikia) and adding this:
#PageShareContainer { display: none; }
You can also import Ozuzanna's script to move the edit buttons back to where they were into your personal JS, but again, that can't be added to the JS loaded for all users.
Ahh, didn't check the code. Thank you for that, they need to put a notice on that dev page.
I've put a notice up at the page, hopefully that will end some of the confusion.
That's a good idea, thanks lol. I recently installed that script too about a month ago, so I kind of had that on my mind (and I should of known better too, since I read the Staff update!). Pays to pay attention, thanks again for that correction.
I thought that they'd said they would blank it but hadn't actually done so, because the SocialIcons are still showing up on my wikis. The reason I didn't remove it's link from the CSS yet is because Google+ is missing from the new social buttons. But I guess even a null edit to the CSS files would result in the old icons going away. I hope they update it in one of this week's techical updates.
They have blanked it, but it is cached, possibly in your browser, possibly upstream.
They tried deleting it, but doing that just breaks the javascript on every wiki using that script.
A null edit to a CSS file would do nothing.
Thank you so much for the help everyone ^^
No problem :)
