If you're like me, the way that the "mw-collapsible" class adds the text to the last column header is a pain. I know that you can use the "button trick" as mentioned in Help:Collapsing. But that just takes up more space on my article, which is a pain if I'm concerned with portability.
Illustration of the page styling issue:
1st Column | 2nd Column |
---|---|
Some data | Some more data |
Bippity | Boppity Boo! |
What I've done is to create a "Table Header" that spreads across all the columns in the table. Then the "collapse" tag is put in that header instead of my real columns.
Same table using a "Table Header":
"Magic" collapsing table | |
---|---|
1st Column | 2nd Column |
Some data | Some more data |
Bippity | Boppity Boo! |
I know that sometimes using the "colspan" is considered "poor form" when it comes to portability support, but I haven't had any issues with this sort of implementation (yet).
