You and me both. From having worked with FANDOM/Wikia for over a decade, they have always had problems both documenting and communicating. I'm always harassing them to improve their Help pages and there has been some progress, but not enough. As someone who has worked in the computer industry for 30+ years, I get the sense that FANDOM lacks experienced industry (aka Silicon Valley SW company) veterans and leadership. They also seem to be suffering from long term startup-itis which tends to favor disorganized approaches such as fail fast and (fr)agile development.

It also makes me wonder if there's a way to see the sub-verticals, too, to see whether we are falling under 'anime' or not.
I suspect the sub-verticals are not formalized and are more part of the community management team than other parts of the company. This is info you can only get from FANDOM staff.

Seeing as the vertical seem to affect a lot of things, like which staff members deal with issues and who gets editor rewards and WAM scores and so forth, it'd be admitedly useful for wiki local staff to have more knowledge and input onto these things, I'd imagine?
TBH, I'm not sure I agree. If the assigned people do a good job, it shouldn't matter what vertical you're in. I'm not saying they're doing a bad job, but my current reaction is meh. As I said in my earlier response, despite what we think is organization, I don't think it is really that organized.
