A full update to 1.30.0 will never happen, for reasons explained above. However, elements from it, comparable original ones, or completely new ones, will be added. As explained above as well.
The anon is right about the security flaws in the old version of MW that Fandom uses. Fandom is slowly making efforts to improve the security, but by the time they even get most stuff running on HTTPS, they'll still be years behind.
Wikia made a poor choice awhile ago and they will pay for it until they grow big enough or can afford the dev staff to deal with it. Due to their usual priorities this is unlikely to happen until at least 2025.
Ehh no re: Structured Discussions. Strikes me as a UX pain and would probs kill forums if migrated. It also lacks a landing page, a cross board navigation system and more Forum features.

Facts about what?
I am telling the first post as I said.
MediaWiki is made to be open source.
There are bugs on MediaWiki software and it also affects Wikia's version. Wikia should start refork MediaWiki into newer one in June 2018. June 2018 is when MediaWiki 1.31 LTS came out and Wikia start to roll out the new forked version into millions of Wikia wikis. But as most users says it not going to happen until 7 years.
Once Wikia looks into this post they will start it, but "nope" for now.
