From what I have found, there seems to be a lot of anti-UCP fake news (I want to say propaganda, but it is not propaganda). The main leaders of this are Joshuat, CKane, User:Iamnater1225, User:YirbFpYxzhXdxfk, User:CuteYoshi101 and User:172.58.206.176.

    Hey, all.

Recently, you may have come across the blog A Veteran Admin’s Concerns Regarding FANDOM and UCP, in which Death Battle Fanon Wiki Bureaucrat Big the cat 10 brought out his concerns regarding the Unified Community Platform (UCP). I am also a Bureaucrat on said wiki, and Big's blog inspired me to make my own blog in which I talk about what I consider to be the main problems with the Platform and how I think it can be improved.

I won't hold you waiting any longer, so let's just get started.

    • The lack of JavaScript / CSS compatibility. Most of these are maintained by external developers, so it's up to them to make them work on UCP. This isn't Fandom's fault, so bashing them for it is really stupid.

Arguably the most repulsive feature of the …

This is sure déjà vu. Time to say a few things.

A little under ten years ago I wrote a little blog called "My Official New Look Wikia (Oasis) Blog", which was about the oncoming change of skin (from Monaco to Oasis). Oh, some of us had fun back then. But here we are in 2020, some grey/white hairs later (my birthday is today, I hit 40) and we have the oncoming doom of "UCP" (Unified Community Platform). The best way to put it: "been there, seen that, done that". The protests have started, everyone is commenting like mad, and likely I am one of many blogs up on the subject. Maybe some of you ironic ones can dig up old "Anti-Wikia Alliance" protest images and revamp them for UCP protests. The few old staff left from back in the day will really…

Greetings users of Community Central Wiki. I’m Big the cat 10, the “Head Bureaucrat” and unofficial leader of the Death Battle Fanon Wiki (DBFW), a 7 year old wiki with over 22,000 pages. I have been contributing to the DBFW (as well as the FANDOM network as a whole) for nearly 5 years (since November 2015). As shown by the title, I have come here to express my concerns to the FANDOM Staff (and the users of this wiki) regarding recent actions and the introduction of UCP.

Before I get started I want to clarify a couple of things. Firstly, I do not intend for this blog to be an aggressive rant against FANDOM. It’s purpose is to make the FANDOM Staff more aware of the concerns myself and many other veteran Admins/Users have about the UCP since…

    • My proposed new features:
    1. Site info:
      1. Keep "Recent Wiki Activity".
    2. User info:
      1. User Clusters, a notice on the front page that shows who the 10 most active users were that week on a wiki!
      2. Mod chime and mod light. A small red letter 'M' lights up when a wika mod or local admin is logged in to the site. A quite audio-chime will sound when they logs in and out of the site. I would like to see it as voluntary on each Wiki.
      3. Make it impossible to put pin numbers or phone numbers on to a user or user talk page to help hinder doxxing.(see: Info bot)!
    3. Page comments:
      1. The ability to edit one's own page comments for about an hour after posting to fix spelling and type errors.
    4. Wiki Chat:
      1. Micro chat, a 80 word or less chat service, based on the old Wiki Chat format. …

    my thoughts on ucp

    August 15, 2020 by BestNoobReborn

ucp design does look pretty good, looks better than normal platform. however it does have alot of missing stuff, like the ability to switch between visual and source editors to insert stuff like infoboxes. i think that should be implemented. i think the wiki activity on pages should be put back in, as it makes it harder to detect vandalism. messages and discussion replies should also stay in separate notifications, it keeps things organized. they should also re-implement live chat. with all this, entire wikis shouldn't be migrated to ucp just yet.

    Maybe UCP isn't so bad

    August 15, 2020 by I like saws

The new wiki activity and message walls will take some getting used to but at least they have comments and blogs now.

Because I feel like the Source Editor is getting the short straw of the UCP updates in lieu of the Visual editor, I guess I should leave some feedback about things that need to be added and/or improved to it. Source Editor is what the majority of veteran editors use to edit and shouldn't be left behind.

One of the best conveniences of the Legacy editor was the ability to type in a hyperlink or template and the system would attempt to autocomplete it based on existing pages/templates on the wiki. I really wish this can be implemented on UCP.

On Legacy there is a special field on the right panel where you can automatically add categories to a page without having to type them on the main page's body. UCP has something similar, but for whatever …
