Gone Wiki - looking for contributors

Hello, people! I'm assuming you have read the Gone series by Michael Grant, in which everyone over the age of fifteen vanishes in the fictional town of Perdido Beach and the remaining kids find themselves trapped and developing strange abilities. If you haven't, then I'm not really sure why you're even reading this.

If you're still reading, then great! I'm an editor at the Gone Wiki, and I have been for almost a year now. I am, however, one of only two. While the Wiki formerly had an active and pretty big community, the other editors, bureaucrats and admins all left, even before the current bureaucrat arrived. We have recently finished clearing up the mess they left behind, and we have mostly finished creating a new system. Therefore, I figu…

FANDOM Awards: Voting Round

Hi there, everybody! I apologize for the huge delay, but life got busy! As per my previous blog post, I am here to post the voting round. Some categories had a massive voice for particular people, but as I felt it would not be fair without a vote, I included them here regardless!

  • 1 Information
  • 2 How to Vote
  • 3 The Nominees!
  • 4 Don't Want to Vote?
  • 5 Closing Date

People that were nominated will be in the categories below- if there were more, but less people voted for them, then they were automatically eliminated for simplicity sake. If there was a tie.. well, then I added them all. :P

Unfortunately, multiple of the same people were nominated for different categories and polls don't seem to work well with that, and so if you desire to input a vote, feel fr…

Flow Free Wiki

Hello. My name is JustLeafy and recently, I have founded the Flow Free Wiki.

  • 1 About
  • 2 Why I made a wiki about the topic
  • 3 Why I want people to read my wiki
  • 4 What have I written so far
  • 5 The future of this wiki
  • 6 How could others help out
  • 7 Conclusion

The Flow Free Wiki is a wiki that describes/will describe about everything in the Flow Free App, including the levels, colors, packs and the expansions. There is no confirmation if I will include the information about the packs and levels from the expansions (I won't, because it would be too much work, anyway), due to the fact that the wiki was built intentionally for the original Flow Free App.

There aren't pages for Flow Free levels themselves, because levels themselves don't provide too much information,…

What is the Best Way to Handle Vandals and Trolls?

Recently, there was a blog post made by a user detailing their list of steps that they would personally use to stop vandalism. While their method works, in my opinion, better steps can be taken in order to stop vandalism on your wiki. Here are some methods that I compiled, and which ones I think are best.

  • 1 Revert→Block→Ignore
  • 2 Wait→Ignore→Block
  • 3 Message→Block→Revert→Ignore
  • 4 Conclusion

A classic, and the one that most fandom staff advise you to use. This is one of the best methods for vandalism that you could use. It's simplistic, yet at the same time works well. While not what I personally would do, it works, and is a backup method for something if my other method fails. Here's a scenario where this would work well:

A random user by the name of …

The Red Sparrow Wiki

Hello there!

My name is Lucy and I'm writing this post to promote the Red Sparrow Wiki. I've became an admin of the wiki recently and I'm working to update it with new information and a better design, but... as you know, a Wiki is not made of just one person. So I come to ask you please, to take a look at the Red Sparrow Wiki! We really need help from as many people as possible!

Red Sparrow is a trilogy of espionage books writen by ex-CIA officer Jason Matthews. The first novel had a film adaptation released on March of this year, staring Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton and Matthias Schoenaerts. Your First Users

Having your first few new users on your wiki can be exciting, however, you have to make sure that you keep it professional! This blog will go over some best practices for you gaining your first couple of users.

  • 1 Greeting them
  • 2 Monitoring them
  • 3 Growing your wiki
  • 4 Conclusion

By default, there are message wall greetings that guide users as to what to do for their first time on the wiki. Take advantage of these! You can edit them to make them more personalized for your wiki in particular. It's best that you're there to answer questions, and to be a familiar face to them. If they make a mistake, don't scold them! Inform them, and make sure they know the correct way to do things. If they ask a question, try your best to answer it. If you don't know, d…

Avoiding burnout on your wikis

You're editing a wiki that you've edited every day for many months, and you love the progress and the accomplishments you have done for your wiki. It always feels like a job well done when you fill out a section that's been empty for three weeks, or when you've finally gotten through all of your Discussions reports.

However, sometimes the pressure of working on your wiki starts to build, or you lose patience with your readers and editors. You feel like the task of categorising 10,000 items for an RPG wiki is too overwhelming. It's usually time to step back and take a wikibreak!

Here's some tips to balance the time you spend on your wiki so that you don't work yourself out.

If you've overworked yourself over the last few days on your wiki, tak…
