Everything You Need to Know About Reported Notifications

Hello hello!

It has been a long time since we redesigned the on-site notifications and merged the Fandom and Gamepedia notifications. Since then, we have been delivering on our promises made last year at Community Connect, one of which was to bring more, much needed and requested moderation tools to Discussions. To that end, we released the highly requested post history feature earlier this year, but we knew more needed to be done to help facilitate the moderation of our wikis.

It's been tested and teased for months now, but we're excited to finally release our reported post notifications to all wikis that have at least one social feature enabled, whether it's Discussions, Message Walls, or Article Comments!

Every administrator and Thread Moder…

Technical Updates: November 3, 2023

Hey everyone! Check out the latest Technical Updates since October 26th. We’ll continue to update the editor community on bug fixes and product development updates on a bi-weekly basis!

  • 1 Notable Changes
  • 2 Known Issues
  • 3 Development Updates

  • Editors reported that the editor preview works fine, it just doesn't show an update if you've previewed the page once, then edited a template used in it, and then hit preview again. It showed a cached version of the preview, rather than a fresh one. We’re excited to share that we’ve found a fix!

  • Mark All As Read. We recently announced in a special Technical Update that Mark All as Read was fixed. We’ve found the problem behind the issue of the notification is a…

The Games Have Just Begun

Greetings and welcome.

You don't need to be a horror aficionado to know that the right response to that statement from Jigsaw, especially on Halloween, is "NOPE" and then you run. To be honest, that would be my response to every talking puppet or creepy weirdo wearing a mask, but channeling my best Brackett, I'll stay put for now, cause hey, "It's Halloween. Everyone's entitled to one good scare, right?" Right?

Chris, who joined me on our Fandom Horror/Villain-themed celebration this year, would firmly say "Oh blimey" to that -- he's British, leave him alone -- cause why have one person who doesn't celebrate Halloween or watches horror movies when you can have two? After one of us also suffered several nightmares due to the research for our var…

Special Technical Update: October 26, 2023

Hey y’all!

We wanted to provide you with a SPECIAL Technical Updates post this week since we just gave you one last week, and we’ll have another prepared for next Friday with more news and bug fixes. But we couldn’t possibly wait to share this piece of particular news about a major bug fix that we know, from previous comments, has been a top community pain point for you all. So, we wanted to get this news out to you early!

The Mark All As Read button is fixed! Yes, all of the notifications you receive in our Notifications Center can be properly cleared by the click of a button. We couldn’t reproduce this issue at first, but with the community’s help, we were finally able to track down the cause. This bug required a fix in multiple services, …

  • 1 Notable Changes
  • 2 Known Issues

  • Editors experienced a 500 error when accessing Post History on wikis. We’re happy to announce that this has been fixed.
  • If you edited an existing gallery in VisualEditor, it didn’t recognize the pre-existing content. Once editors added a new image, it created a new gallery under the existing one. The UGC was able to find a solution.
  • User talk page editor had no minimum height, preventing editing on shorter screens. Our UGC Team found a fix and editors can edit th…

Editor Story: Exploring The Power of Community with Supeika

Our final editor story for this Hispanic Heritage Month series features Fandom Star Supeika! They contributed to our HHM celebration last year and this year will share their experience in the Fandom Community. A community grows because of the passion and hard work of the people who are part of it. Together, we forge strong bonds, lifelong friendships, and learn many things along the way. We're much better together, and Supeika does a wonderful job of reminding us why community is important. Read on!

Hi everyone! Talking about the hispanity is something that I'll always enjoy doing, even if I'm not perfect at that, because there are many stories to be told, many experiences to share, and while I can't put all of that on a single blog, I'm goi…

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the Fandom Community

As we conclude Fandom’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the editors and communities that contributed! Whether it be through blogs, editor stories, attending roundtables, or hosting your own events, your contributions matter and make a significant impact to the Fandom community. Together, we honored various makers in entertainment, ranging from Héctor’s list of video game developer studios continuing to see great success through their titles to the history of Fandom’s Hispanic communities through the words and journey’s of our editors.

We thought we would do something a little different with the concluding blog, and truly amplify the voices of our community members. This blog was written by th…
