Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an animated television series, produced by Fred Wolf Studios and based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic characters by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

Originally airing in syndication, it moved to CBS in 1990[1] where it stayed until the final episode aired on 2 November 1996.[2] The transfer from syndication to CBS ocurred during mid season 4.

A weekday cartoon in 1989 and 1990, 1991 saw the return to Saturday mornings for first time since 1988. It would remain that throughout the rest of its span.

A sideseason set in Europe, Vacation in Europe or Turtles in Europe, originally aired throughout various European countries in 1992. In the USA, these episodes originally aired over CBS in September and October 1993.

Seasons 8–10 saw some major changes. These seasons are informally also known as the Red Sky Seasons or the Red Sky Years.
