Inside the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal is a landmark mausoleum built on Earth in the nation-state of India in the 17th century.

History[]

In the year 2266, Earth mathematician and pacifist Alfred Bleikoff, who had been cryogenically frozen in the 1990s, was revived and permitted to tour Earth anonymously before an official reception. James T. Kirk, Spock, Leonard McCoy and Montgomery Scott showed him the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the Great Pyramid and Mount Everest. But when the group disembarked from a transport in India en route to the Taj Mahal, Bleikoff was recognized by Rajipur, a reporter for Interplanetary Press, prompting them to hold an impromptu press conference inside the Taj Mahal. It was here that Bleikoff first revealed his initial impressions of 23rd century Earth, news which went viral. (TOS comic: "Prophet of Peace")

In an alternate timeline, Khan Noonien Singh's funeral ceremony was conducted at the Taj Mahal in 2172. (DS9 - Myriad Universes - Infinity's Prism novel: Seeds of Dissent)

Legacy[]

Benny Russell once thought that his New York City apartment seemed like the Taj Mahal compared to Jenny's. (DS9 novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)

In 2266, McCoy described the mausoleum on Mila Xa as a "Taj Mahal of space". (TOS comic: "The Haunted Asteroid")

By 2270, the androids of planet Mudd had built a full-scale replica of the Taj Mahal for Harry Mudd, which he called the Mudd Mahal. (TOS - Mudd's Angels short story: "The Business, As Usual, During Altercations")

In 2375, Kathryn Janeway was reminded of a moonlit Taj Mahal while regarding Gravity, an unusual-looking Xorm starship encountered near a binary pulsar system. (VOY novel: Death of a Neutron Star)
