Richard Stephen Dreyfuss is an American actor and voice actor, who is best known for starring in numerous film, television, and theater roles since the late 1960s, including his notable roles as Matt Hooper and Roy Neary in Steven Spielberg's films Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (respectively) that were both released in the 1970s.

For Disney, he voiced Centipede in the 1996 live-action/stop-motion film James and the Giant Peach and portrayed Dr. Leo Martin in the 1991 Touchstone Pictures film What About Bob?, Fagin in Oliver Twist, and Professor James Krippendorf in Krippendorf's Tribe. He also played Detective Chris Lecce in Stakeout and Another Stakeout and Glenn Holland in Mr. Holland's Opus. Additionally, he portrayed Bernie Madoff in the ABC TV miniseries Madoff. His role as Dr. Matt Hooper from Jaws was also spoofed by Aladdin in the Aladdin episode "Egg-stra Protection", while Genie spoofed the titular shark.
