Jeremy John Irons is an English actor and voice actor, who voiced Scar in the 1994 Disney animated feature film The Lion King. Unlike many Disney movies, where a singer steps in to replace the voice actor or actress during a song, Irons sang the lines as Scar for "Be Prepared". This was later repeated by Mel Gibson, who was both the singing and speaking voice of John Smith in Pocahontas. His accent often led to him being cast as villainous characters, like Shere Khan's original voice artists George Sanders and Tony Jay. He also played H.G. Wells in The Timekeeper.
Additionally, Irons provided the narration for the third incarnation of Spaceship Earth at Epcot, Seasons of the Vine at Disney California Adventure, and the Studio Tram Tour at Walt Disney Studios Park. He also provided narration for Disc 2 of The Lion King Platinum Edition. Additionally, he played Pucci in the 2005 Touchstone Pictures film Casanova.
Outside of Disney, one of Irons' well-known villain roles is portraying Simon Gruber in Die Hard with a Vengeance. His other film roles include The French Lieutenant's Woman, Moonlighting, Betrayal, The Mission, Dead Ringers, Reversal of Fortune, The House of the Spirits, M. Butterfly, The Man in the Iron Mask, Dungeons & Dragons, The Pink Panther 2, Elizabeth I , Eragon, Georgia O'Keeffe, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Danny, the Champion of the World (during which he co-starred with his son, Samuel Irons, and Robbie Coltrane).

- Irons sang most of his lines for "Be Prepared", but his vocal cords strained when he did the line: "You won't get a sniff without me!", forcing Jim Cummings (who also did Ed's vocal effects in the same film) to fill in as the rest of Scar's singing voice.
