Ukraine 🇺🇦 (Ukrainian:Україна) is a country in Eastern Europe. Its capital and largest city is Kyiv.

Statistics[]

The land area of Ukraine is 223,680 square miles (579,330 km2) when including Crimea, making it the 45th largest country by total area. As of July 2021, the population of that combined area was estimated to be 43.7 million, making it the 34th most populous country in the world at the time.[1]

Apple in Ukraine[]

Apple does not directly operate any physical retail stores in Ukraine and distributes its products through ASBIS to local retailers.[2][3] In 2019, Ukraine criticised Apple for labelling the disputed region of Crimea as part of Russia when Apple Maps is used from within Russia.[4]

During the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022, Ukraine's deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov wrote an open letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook demanding Apple stop supplying services to Russia.[5]. Hours later, Apple Pay operations in Russia were suspended due to international sanctions that were imposed in response to the invasion.[6] On March 1, Apple confirmed that it had stopped all product sales in Russia.[7] On that day, Cook also stated in an internal email that Apple would be donating to humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.[8]
