I've been experimenting with wikitext on my wiki, which is on the legacy platform (not UCP). I've noticed something odd while editing wiki pages.
Recently, because I edit only in source mode, I changed my preferred editor to "Classic rich-text editor (where available)". This allows me to quickly switch back and forth between visual and source editing whenever I need to.
However, sometimes I like to use the VisualEditor, and I select it from the drop-down menu next to the Edit button on any pages that I'd like to use the visual editor with.
After a few days doing this, I notice that the dropdown now displays Classic Editor instead of VisualEditor. Clicking on the normal Edit button, it brings me to the VisualEditor instead!
Looking in my preferences, something happened that caused the preferred editor to get switched to VisualEditor, even though the last time I set it it was in Classic editor.
Is this due to some tracking that will change your preferred editor if you start using another one more often?
