New version has made it impossible to edit pics.

Hi, While I love the step forward Wikia now has with the new layout, editing features, etc, there is one bug I can't get around. I have uploaded a pic onto a page. I want to resize it to fit the column. The Fandom header blocks the top button (which can be the save button but I am not sure what it is all the time) and I also cannot see how to resize, probably due to whatever is at the top and bottom of the editing page being cut off. I have tried using two browsers, both the latest versions (Firefox and Chrome for Mac desktop)

Help!

I have the pic up there now in a small size.

I tried inserting it onto the page but that has the same problems. The header blocks the button at the top and I can't scroll to readjust the page.

I got this message today to it looks like it will be taken care of. When the update happens, I'll go back and fix the isolated text.

1) I tried to look it up but couldn't find it. Instead of posting here in this forum, I wrote to the contact info which I think is to execs high up in the company. They just responded with this:

tables not saving changes

Hi,

I had written in a few weeks ago about a table that wasn't saving changes. Someone kindly fixed it by "Switching recent code from wikitext to html". Well, I now have another table that won't save changes.

I guess I'd be happy enough to create my own map, upload an image of a map and then pin it from there. Getting the old data would be nice too so I'll look into that. I'll probably just wait though since they may come up with something. I'd rather not have to create and fill out maps more than I have to.

My wiki, http://twm.wikia.com, had a map. It is now gone. Is there any way I can recover the data and somehow get it to work for the new map setup? I have a data dump from the end of February which should have all the data that I would have had on the map. I'ver tried to look at it but haven't had any susccess is finding anything intelligeable.

Error loading data from server: parsoidserver-http-bad-status: 404: No pages were returned from the API request for Music. Would you like to retry?

I get this message when I try to edit this page (Music) lately. Is there anything I can do or is this a system problem? I can't edit it when this message comes up.

Also, I have seen a page I am working on go blank after some edits. It comes back but it's scary. (I can always start from scratch if I have to so that's ok.) Is this part of the above problem?

Linking to other pages in my wiki

When I create a new page or add a link to an existing page, I can link to pages within the wiki or external ones. If I type, or mistype, what I think the page title is, it goes there (or creates a new page with that typo's name...)

Is that the way to link to pages within the wiki? I would think I could choose a page from a list if I was going to link to a page on the wiki.. At this point I have been putting in URLs to pages within the wiki. (Sometimes I use/end up at the classic editor, sometimes I use/end up at other versions of your editing choices...)

What is the best way to link to a page within the wiki?

And I'll risk asking this though I am not ready to comprehend it yet most likely, what is the best way to link words in text automatically to the pages they are referring to, or does that have to be done manually?

Yay, thanks! This will do for now. I'm going to probably (eventually) want a ToC like that Morris wiki I mentioned but that will take some time to set up the other pages.

Yes, 27,434 is what I want. I've inserted that but it now says We currently have Special:Allpages23 pages. How do I get rid of the code and have it just say the number of pages (as a link)? It took me a few attempts to get the 27,434 code in there right...

I tried putting in this: "Welcome to Community Central. We currently have 1,608,177!" I changed SITENAME to the name of my site (The Wicker Man, 1973). What I ended up with was two links. The first, the SITENAME one, led to a page to EDIT the main page. That made no sense. The second one shows an incorrect number (142 - the site only has 23 pages but at least that brings me to a page where I can see all of those 23 pages and click on them.

It's a start but why is it giving me/(others?) such incorrect info and linking me/(others?) to a page to edit the main page?

Ah, that may the solution. I'll look into it. Thanks! (I hope to try this out soon but I can't say when.)

On another question, if I want mine to mimic the Morris wiki I referenced earlier, is there a way for me to copy it's code or do I have to write to the owner and ask for the ability (user privledges) to do that?

OK. Maybe I can have the main TOC on a subpage.

The Special:PrefixIndex is fine If I want people/myself to search for pages. I don't. I want them to see what pages there are on the TOC.

Is there any way sub-pages, and sub-pages to them, can be automatically listed? Will I have to manually add each one?

Also, I'm having a hard time finding all of the pages that are up now. What page is the best one to go to to see them all?

Thanks!!! I'll try to develope things based on what you've done. I'll be adding some pages as time goes on.

I've seen another wiki (http://morrisdancing.wikia.com/wiki/Morris_Dancing_Wiki) on Wikia too! that has the contents listed on the left. I now see how they did the subpages. That is pretty much how I want mine to look. I'll look into it but any code help anyone can offer would be great. Many thanks!
