Spam

Lately a wiki I moderate has had a lot of bots appearing, making pages to promote a person (usually a singer) and then leaving. I’ve blocked them and deleted the content but this has been happening over and over with different bots. Is there any way I can prevent this happening? Or do I just need to keep blocking them after they’ve made the spam content.

Sometimes on like block lists lots of users are blocked for spamming links to external sites but I have no idea what that is exactly. Can you pls tell me?

I got this a while back, but thought to ask now. i'm 99.999% sure its a scam. There's no way a person comes to a wiki and only asks two things and then leaves. It's a scam, right?

I was banned from this wiki, then unbanned, then banned then unbanned, then banned then unbanned, for spam. I don't know what's going on.

Hi, Fandom. A little background: My wiki (PPC Wiki) has recently had a string of new users posting off-topic articles and images, and new templates to go with them. We're handling it by deleting the off-topic content (as our wiki rules specify we may do) and advising these users to join our community forum to learn how to contribute appropriately, but so far none of them have responded. The bottom line is it's spam, and it's getting tiresome.

For that reason, I'd like to know if it's possible to limit page creation in the Template namespace to admin-only. This would reduce how much time-wasting spam is created without limiting the editing capacity of the average user on our wiki.

I've looked through the admin tools, but I haven't spotted a way to do this, if it's even possible. Advice on how to implement this or on any other strategies for handling this issue would be equally appreciated. Thanks!

ETA: Apparently we did edit-protect the entire Template category at some point, but that's not stopping people from creating pages with that namespace.

I wrote a helper on Scratchpad III Wiki about a vandal on the wiki, but the helper never wrote back. This vandal is immediately vandalizing pages that I restore, so I am completely unable to restore the pages. I believe this user is using multiple accounts to vandalize, which is very serious. Since the helper did not write me back, what should my next step be? There are not many people on the wiki that can block users.

I'm an admin on the JumpStart Wiki. Recently a user has been spamming various articles with their own fan ideas, fan-edited images, and a lot of blatantly false information. I made several attempts to talk to them about it, and explained that we are supposed to be a normal informational wiki, but they never responded to any of my messages and continued the same behavior after being asked to stop. Eventually, I blocked them for a week as a warning. Not even the full week has passed, and they've already created two sockpuppet accounts to dodge the blocks and continue the same behavior (the second sockpuppet account was created shortly after I blocked the first sockpuppet account). I know it's the same person because they aren't trying to hide it, the usernames are basically the same. The accounts showed up in this order:

I would like to know where I should go to get help with this. Or should I just keep blocking the accounts as soon as they pop up? I have no idea how many more sockpuppet accounts they intend to make if I just keep blocking them normally.

Well someone from a wiki who knows me because he is member of AUL wiki banned me on a wiki im not even member on just because i have a pfp that looks like him on Among us game. He said my ''punishment" is ban and SPAM pinging me. And it's annoying, also there is no reason to ban just because of my pfp. Many people look like this. Should i report him for spamming?
