The scripts approach has the advantage that you can use them with pretty much any device and it tends to be easier, while with the dedicated program app approach you can avoid having to log in and out of accounts, and they tend to be more powerful.

AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) is an app you download to your computer, give access to your bot account, and then can make edits from (AWB has amazing features and control, it's my personal favorite. JavaScriptWikiBrowser is a simplified version of AWB that you can use on fandom.
