On my wiki, in which I'm a moderator, there was recently a discussion whether to merge with another wiki (which is about the exact same topic and is therefore a duplicate wiki) or not. However, said duplicate wiki is quite dead and is quite inactive, with the last discussions post being in late 2022 and the last edit being almost 5 months ago. The content (as in the articles) are also almost identical to the content on my wiki. So in this case, merging the two wikis would not be necessary.
But the main problem is that duplicate wikis are not allowed on Fandom. If we don't merge the two wikis, there would be two wikis about the exact same topic, which would violate the rules of Fandom as stated in Help:Duplicate communities. If we do merge both the wikis, there'd be several disadvantages like content redundancy and/or clutter, inconsistent quality, and maybe even search problems (in the browser).
A further reason why we can't merge those two wikis is that my home wiki (which I've linked above) has fully finished pages, active users, and consistent edits and posts. The duplicate dead wiki on the other hand has half-finished/incomplete pages, inactive users, and inconsistent edits/posts. Clearly, merging them would most likely result in a mess.
The local bureaucrat of my home wiki and I are sorta confused about whether we should merge them or not, and what the consequences of merging an active and a dead wiki are. Also, in case we don't merge the two wikis, what's gonna happen to the duplicate one? Will it be closed by Fandom staff, or will it stay up (which may violate Fandom's no-duplicate communities rule)?
Anyways, please let me know soon and thank you in advance for answering.
