I’ve been looking at the quote template from the Dev Wiki and I really like it—I’m close to implementing it on another wiki. But the reason I haven’t pulled the trigger is because it’s missing the ability to display images to the left of the text, which is a feature our old quote template has that everyone I’ve talked to (myself included) is reluctant to let go of.
That means the only option now is to copy over the Dev Wiki template onto our wiki and edit its inner workings. The problem is that the template is written in Lua, and neither I nor anyone else at our wiki have much experience in that language. I do intend to get familiar with Lua at some point in the future, but I believe my efforts at the wiki are better suited elsewhere at the moment.
So I’m hoping that someone here will be able to provide the necessary modifications to the Dev Wiki template. Here are my requests:
Add the ability to display an image to the left of the quote text, of course. The image is expected to be square for profile pictures, so you don’t have to worry about inconsistent dimensions.
Image width and height should be locked to 60px.
If an image is not provided, the quote template should behave as it does now.
Extra polish: Crop the image into a circle (if possible) and add a 2px border. The color of the border should be the same as the color used in the template’s quote mark.
Many thanks for your help.
