Periodically a new user shows up and uploads a bunch of sprites and models. While this would normally be helpful, the user always uploads over existing files. It's a different user every time with no previous editing history. This seems to suggest that it's the work of one person, or a group, who for some reason is behaving like a ban-evading vandal, even though the edits in question are otherwise somewhat constructive.
I and other users have tried reaching out to these users. I've tried writing in MediaWiki:Uploadtext a warning not to upload files over existing ones except to upload a better version. Nothing seems to deter... whoever/whatever this is, or garner any sort of response. Special:Upload contains mechanisms specifically to prevent this from happening, but they don't seem to care. Seemingly they really register an entire account, go to Special:Upload, ignore the huge warning that says they're about to overwrite an existing file, and specifically check the box that says to ignore all warnings. It's been maybe two or three months since this started.
This is getting really weird and I'm starting to think uploads should be restricted somehow. I have no idea what else to do because addressing this every time it happens is quite time-consuming.
