You don't use square brackets on the navigation page. But put the name of the linked page right after the stars. You use #| when you don't want to link anywhere, just to put a title.

Basic examples...

*#|Name

...will show the Name as the menu item, but won't go anywhere (not a real link).

*Link

...will show the Link as the menu item and it will be a link to that page if you select it.

*Link|Name

...will show Name as the menu item, but will go to Link as the page if you select it.
