Is there a way to get polls back?
Is there a way to get polls back?
Yeah lol they exist ^^
Again, no they don't. There are two types of polls, Discussions polls and wiki polls. Wiki polls do not exist on UCP; only Discussions polls do. The script that GarfieldTC linked to does not re-add wiki polls. What is does is take Discussion polls and displays them on the wiki.
Unfortunately I don't think just anyone can vote on Discussion polls. i.e. You need a fandom account. I think.
Also, there's a six-option limitation.
Really hope Fandom brings back polls.
Other polls you can intergrate if you want:

https://dev.fandom.com/wiki/StrawpollIntegrator
Yeah, but then you need to use an external service and, at least with Strawpoll, you can't control the style at all.
Yea. That's why I hope fandom brings ajax polls back.
Discussion polls have too many shortcomings, and external services are-well. External services.
Sucks.
Discussions polls certainly are not perfect, there's lots of room for improvement. But think of the positives - with wikitext polls, it was impossible to see who voted and what they voted for. Logged-out users and even blocked users could vote just fine, and anyone could duplicate their votes by switching IPs, or making new accounts just to vote.
Discussions polls on the other hand - you must be logged in to vote, you can't vote if your account is blocked, everyone can see who voted for what, and it's a much, much, more secure polling system.
So yes, discussions polls aren't perfect, but they have a lot of very critically important features that WikiText ones didn't.
Well, sometimes you want an anonymous poll but I agree that being able to restrict who votes is something I prefer having.
Mm... I use polls to be available to every visitor to the wiki. i.e. for the main page. Not just for editors.
So again, ajax polls=want.
You're always free to contact staff with feedback if you want to see old polls return - but think about it - with the old polls, anyone could rig the results by changing their IPs and voting multiple times, leading to a "fraudulent election" (no politics intended). So it's far more secure to simply use AjaxPoll, even though it may require viewers to create an account to cast their votes.
To be fair, users could still game the system by creating alt accounts. But that would require more effort.
What do you think?
