You don't paste it into the first template. You make a separate template named Template:Familytree/step2 and paste the code there, so at the end you have two templates identical to the two on the Game of Thrones wiki.

I'm sorry, now that I looked further into it, I see that it's not just those two templates. It's a complex structure of templates and it can take me hours to figure out how to use them. You can try asking on the GoT wiki if they can teach you.

Another option is to go to something simpler. Would yu want to draw a sketch of the family tree you need on your wiki so I can think what I can suggest?
