How do you recover pages from closed wikis when you are the founder and admin?
What is the link to the closed wiki, and when it was closed? In most cases, there is a time that you can download a copy directly from the "Wiki was closed" page.
You edited it out?
It was an error.
Well no dump there. I hope staff will be able to provide one but no gurantees.
The full-history dump is not available but the current-version dump generated around 2020-10-02T15:21:00Z can still be downloaded directly. In that dump, the last edit was made at 2020-10-02T10:34:31Z.
You can download it by clicking here.
How did you get that link?
@Andrewds1021 Thank you!
You are welcome. You should still contact staff if you want to try to get the full-history dump and/or get the wiki reopened.
The URL of the dumps is systemic based on the wiki's database name. The database name is not necessarily the subdomain but for wikis that have not been moved to a new URL it can typically be derived from the subdomain. Basically, take the subdomain and remove any "-" characters. If the wiki is non-English, prepend the language code. The URL for the dumps start with https://s3.amazonaws.com/wikia_xml_dumps. Then there is /a/ab/ where a is the first letter of the database name and b is the second letter of the database name. Then you have the filename which starts with the full database name followed by _pages_. Then you have current for the current-version dump and full for the full-history dump. Lastly, the file extension is .xml.7z.
Okay,
What do you think?
