There is a Message Wall Greeting button now, but. It won't let me actually edit the Message Wall Greeting-
Btw it's on this wiki.
Why was the Message Wall greeting deleted?
Oh, it works now-
I moved the page from the MWG namespace to the user subpage which the script recommends.
Alright, that makes sense
Could you give me the link to that? It's not letting me go to it.
Maybe it was a glitch
Probably, UCP does that a lot.
It worked for me
On UCP, "Source Editor" is the 2010 editor. The editor you need to use is the 2017 Editor source mode which is "VisualEditor - source mode".
I'm not the one who created the greeting script, but I worked on it a lot recently for bug fixes, so I would like to know details if there is another problem.
Anyway, I investigated the issue described here and apparently it's not a problem with the script, but a result of a few things together.
As was said, the recommended place for the greeting code is on User:USERNAME/Message Wall Greeting, but Message Wall Greeting:USERNAME is also supported for backward compatability. This namespace is not editable with the 2010 source editor, but it is editable with the source mode of the 2017 editor (not sure what part is intentional here), so I made it to direct the user to this edit mode, regardless of their preffered editor.
But apparently, you can't anymore access the 2017 source mode when your preffered editor is the 2010 source editor - on all pages, not just the greeting namespace. I'm pretty sure this is new, and previously you could use ?veaction=editsource to access it.
The result of all this is that if your preffered editor is the 2010 source editor, you don't really have a way to edit the Message Wall Greeting namespace, which is another reason to switch to the User namespace as you did.
Anyway, thank you for pointing it out - I will update to script documentation accordingly.
What do you think?
