<p>Hi all, just a quick note to say that we are discontinuing Community Central staff office hours. It's not been getting a lot of interest for a while, especially since we closed chat at other times, and wasn't working well before then.

<p>Yes, Discord requires a different, separate account AFAIK. I regret having created an account, considering how little I use it. Same goes for Facebook and Twitter. </p>

<p>The anonymity of wikia, is one of the biggest reasons I love it. Why would I join a 3rd party app that won't let me keep my anonymity (even if they pinky swear they wont share that info).

<p>When using Wikia services, I expect of them not to make me use a third party service, especially when said service is (or used to be) included in what they offer. When I order a menu at a restaurant, I don't expect them to make me buy the drink at a convenience store nearby.

<p>I believe that Staff considered the option of continuing Office Hours in its current state, or moving over to Discord where there's more people and where much better interactions could take place.
</p><p>Staff Office Hours is not a key service that people value, given the turnout and questions asked in the past weeks.
</p><p>With the analogy, the option is to either invest money and time in upgrading our icecream stand in our current restaurant (which currently just serves water in a cup at an expensive price), or to direct people to the much better icecream stand on the other side of the road.

<p>From my experience, Discord only asks for a mobile number if you're joining a server that is restricted to people only with verified phone numbers, which I believe this Fandom server is not. You are not required to enter a mobile phone number in a normal scenario.

<p>No, you don't. I don't have my phone number on my account and I didn't have to provide it in order to join, unless they've since changed that after I joined.
