May 7, 2018: A/B Design Test For Discussions New Post Interface

Here are the release notes for FANDOM's code release scheduled for May 7, 2018:

NOTABLE: Discussions users on desktop will see an updated user interface for creating a new post. We are conducting a site-wide A/B test with two different designs. Design images are included at the end of this post.
- There is no change to Discussions on mobile web or within Community Apps
- The poll option will only display on communities where polls are enabled for Discussions
- Feedback is welcome via Special:Contact/feedback!
NOTABLE: We will tweak edit count caching on user pages, so that they can update more quickly.
BUGFIX: We will fix a case where the Math renderer would always output black text regardless of wiki theme.
BUGFIX: We will resume running a script that is fixing some cases of users being missing from Special:ListUsers (particularly admins who have not edited in a long time).

JustLeafy, I like it! But what if, when you hover over the profile picture, it leads to your userpage? I don’t know, just a suggestion...But i love the idea!

JustLeafy, as always your creative thinking is a pleasure to see! However, it's important to remember that the hover action is not compatible with touch screens, and touch interactions are increasingly expanding beyond just smartphones and tablets. So in general we don't look to hover/tooltips to convey important information as we create new designs.

For some users that first saw version A are now seeing version B was that intended? such as Korra who saw version all of yesterday saw B all of today

This concept should be for discussions on desktop only.

Yeah, less colorful, but I feel like it's going for the same basic idea? It took me awhile to figure it out why it looked familiar.
