Hey guys,
So, on the Sly Cooper wiki, I've tried to create a template that, when it is placed in a page either looks for the date (which can be manually entered in {{{1}}}
and {{{2}}}
) and if it doesn't find it, will substitute the current month and year with {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}}
and {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}}
.
This seemed to work at first, but after looking at the source of the template, it just substituted the current month and year (August 2016) into the template. Is there anyway that I can prevent it from substituting in the template but still substitute in the page the template is placed into?
Here is the code for the template (after the substitution has already happened, notice that "August" and "2016" are in the template's code):
{{mbox |color=orange |image=Unbalanced_scales.svg.png |header=The neutrality of this article is disputed. |content=Relevant discussion may be found on the [{{FULLURL:Talk:{{PAGENAME}}}} talk page]. Please do not remove this message until the dispute is resolved.<br><small>''This has been an issue since {{#if:{{{1|}}}|{{{1}}}|August}} of {{#if:{{{2|}}}|{{{2}}}|2016}}.</small>'' }}
Just hoping somebody knows how I can fix this. Obviously the template would be pretty useless if it tells you that the issue has existed since August of 2016 instead of when the template was actually placed on the page.
