CSS and custom backgrounds

Today's update brought fluid layout to all communities. There was also a change to Wikia's CSS that affected some communities where the background image is established in custom CSS rather than Theme Designer. The class body.mediawiki is replaced with body.background-dynamic.skin-oasis Unfortunately, this change resulted the affected backgrounds being hidden. To restore the background, simply update your custom CSS with the change noted above. I'd also like to reiterate that Theme Designer is preferred way to establish the background of a Wikia community. With the recent updates to that feature, there are now some options around specific fluid behavior. We're also wrapping up an investigation into increasing the background file size limit to 300kb (from the current 150kb). This increase will allow for better quality images while still preserving fast load times. We'll have an update on that soon!

If you need to ask what MediaWiki:Wikia.css or MediaWiki:Common.css are, then you probably don't need to worry about it. You would only need to be concerned at all if you've made customizations there, and if you don't already know what they are, then you obviously haven't. If you're wondering if your wiki is using custom CSS or whatnot, just ask an admin or bureaucrat there, more than likely they'll know what's up.

Hello, I wanted to know how I can 'reactivate' changing namespace backgrounds for Oasis. Before the update this worked on both skins, so now it only works on monobook. http://gaia.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css http://gaia.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikia.css

Try this:

.mediawiki.ltr.ns-0 {
background: url('images.wikia.com/gaia/images/3/3f/Overall_bg_clouds.png');
}

I tested this using my global.css and it seemed to work. It used that image on ns:0 on all wikis that I visited. The same thing should work (presumably) for any other namespace by just changing the 'ns-#'. If not, let me know, and I'll help you figure it out.

Do I have to duplicate everything to Wikia.css? Because as you can see there are multiple pages to every one background.

You should be able to change the classes in Common.css and it will work on both skins. Do namespaces like this: .mediawiki.ltr.ns-0 and pages like this: .mediawiki.ns-subject.page-Grunny, for example. That should work.

Be sure to tell us which wiki you are having the problem on. FortressMaximus: Same to you. Also note that this thread was 3.5 years old (and the latest edit was 3 years old) by the time you asked your question. Chances are users aren't going to respond. Not to mention your question is independent from the original topic.
