i dunno why the reason. but for the comment, IP can be shown. for example in my tvwikia
i think u have to a registered member so that can see the anon ip in comments.
Because consistency is the key ;)
found the tutorial about it. reveal anon ip
Because on walls and forums, its important to know who is the anon (especially if there are many) while in case of forums its not.
Thanks for the link.
Comments section get the more activity than Message Walls and Forums, since the article is the subject. I would hope there will be an update by the staff. There are people who are confused about "A Wikia contributor", believing it to be 'one person' making the comment rather than individual people with different IPs. Then you have the people who comment to themselves in an attempt to pretend they are two persons.
eta - And yes, with the dev code, you can only see the IPs if you are signed-in with a user account, if you are not signed in you will only see the generic name given to the IP. However, even signed-out you can see the address on Message Walls and Forums. If it is revealed everywhere else (like page History for example) then it might as well be for the Comments.
Also, why does it say I am banned from chat?
@bunai82 : in the link that i gave u, there is setting to whom can see the IP. in my wikia, i set that only member can see the IP. and anon cannot see anon.
yea i agree with ur opinion about the ip, but i can live with it and i'm glad that there is an alternative solution for it.
What do you think?
